Hey anyone know of a way for a Illinois resident to gamble real money on online casinos? I can't figure out what the true rules are for IL. A lot of the casinos say all US citizens welcome, other sites say you can bet from any state. I'm confused. I want to play some roulette. The casino I tried wouldn't accept my credit card. it seems like most casinos accept NETeller, click2play, and few other sources. Would using any of those get me in??

it is all "illegal" although, it isn't actually illegal for the player, only for the online casino to accept your money. So, you can play online as long as you can get the online casino to take your money, although neteller is not available to U.S. customers. I know PokerStars takes e-checks as deposit form. I'm not sure about the others.
Hope that helps ) PM me if you have any questions!

Yeah, state law typically doesn't cover internet gambling as far as I know, and there is no federal law against online gambling from an individual level -- the UIGEA only forbids financial institutions and credit card issuers from processing payments for online gambling purposes. I've never heard of any player being prosecuted for internet gambling.
Check the other poker thread in this forum, I just responded to another post there today mentioning a few ways to get accounts funded.
But as tjwor said, bank transfer through something like eCheck is what I normally use.

Hey D, once again you lifted my spirits, I may get to play with real money. I was scoping out Online Gambling Insider and 2 casinos came up that seem to be current with options of payment, One requires for US customers to phone in deposits, how safe should I feel about that? That is the One Club Casino. Royal casino has options as well, should I certify my bank account, still iffy on safety of some of these.

Okay so I found 2 that seem to work, problem is other websites still say Illinois is illegal to gamble online, but all other sites say all US states welcome. WTF??

Don't know. Haven't looked into Illinois state law, but as I said I've never heard of an individual being prosecuted for online gambling. Obviously you need to look out for yourself, and the usual IANAL disclaimer applies here.
EDIT Just found
this useful site[=http//sunshine-slots.com/gambling-for-us-players.html]this useful site regarding the legalities of online gambling in the US. According to that page, Illinois is one of 11 states that in some form "restricts" online gambling. It doesn't really say how though.
According to
this site[=http//www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Laws/Illinois/]this site, which publishes state gambling laws, the only section of Illinois code I can find that specifically mentions Internet gambling relates to the prohibition on owning and operating a gambling website. Players themselves would arguably be covered by the general prohibition against gambling period. But if a site is willing to risk running afoul of Illinois law, I don't see where the player would be at any risk. Besides, virtually all online gambling establishments are offshore and do not fall under US jurisdiction, much less state jurisdiction. The only jurisdiction the government has is over US based sites and banking institutions -- if you can get around those, there isn't much they can do.
