I'm new to this - help me?

So I'm using ipods.freepay.com to get a free black video iPod. I've signed up for the 1 month of Rhapsody and, I guess, am just waiting to be billed then credited on my card and freepay account respectively.
I've been browsing these forums and find that people will sell and/or buy referrals and I would be interested in the latter. I would be willing to buy, sell, or trade referrals; however, I would like to know more about what I'm doing before I go any further.

well if your knew you should know that freepay has a 90 day limit to all of its sites, and that most referals these days go for $20-30 usually paypal, if you wanna skip off on freepay because of the time limit il send you $20 paypal if you do yourfreevideoipods for me ;)

Welcome! First I suggest you read every sticky post at the top of this forum (The Trading Post). As a newbie I suggest you start by trading for referrals rather than money, until you get a few trades under your belt. Scan through the Scammer forum to get an idea of those people who are having "trouble" completing trades at all or on time, and veer away from them. Beware that you may get mobbed with PM's now from people wanting to setup trades. Take your time and don't rush into anything until you know what you're doing and are comfortable trading with the person, because as a newbie with no/low TR (Trade Record), you will be expected to green first for those with higher TR.

If you trade enough, you will almost certainly get scammed by somebody eventually, but stay sharp and learn all you can, and you can minimize it. Trading is almost certainly the quickest/easiest way to get your referrals.
