i hear a lot of bad about them.. but what do they really require? i see most are from $5-$10 monthly.. do you need to be part of the site for a number of months to get credit or something? are all the hosting offers a year's subscription or can you sign up for a month or two and still receive credit? i know im missing something here, can someone fill me in here? examples are star logic hosting, globat, apollo hosting, etc...

I'm not sure about on other sites, but I did not see any hosting offers on 4freespot that let you buy by the month -- usually it was annually, biannually, or maybe quarterly. Some have an initiation fee too, and some require you to register a domain name if you don't already have one (Globat I think gave the latter free).
And I really have no idea about how creditting works with those offers.
