so what's the point of +TR if...

Not everyone follows it?

I understand that there are exceptions, and I guess if you looked at it from a point of view that in the end it doesn't matter .. we are just trading greens for greens....

But what good is it if say I were to do a trade with wood and I told him he had to go first, even though he trumps my +TR by at least 15 trades?

Or is it just for noobs to trade with those of us that need newer referrals.

Well technically you have to go first.

Although once you are past 20 or so, you know the person is legit...
So if I were to do a trade with you, it's really up to both our discretion.
I dont think "going first" would really apply. Probably just exchange links and go at the same time... D

I agree, at a certain point it's just for show. Mainly I'd say the "you go green first" would be for when someone has particularly low TR.

(Not that there's any problem with it being just for show, of course.)

Ok... that makes sense. Didn't really think of it that way. Guess I concentrated too much on the technicality.

It's also a way to keep a record of what sites people have already done.

"+1 wood. went green on my freeipods account"

So if I ever said "Hey I'll sign up for your freeipods.com account..." you can go back to the trade list and see if I've ever done it or not.

Yeah, that's another good reason as well. Although I keep a post with all of my trades that I can refer to, which mostly helps me more than anything.

The reason I brought the subject up was due to a minor issue I had trading with Compfreak. I was being a bit of an ass and refusing to go first... just had to get some more understanding about the whole thing... that and combined with all of the bullshit I dealt with this last week outside of this forum didn't mix too well.

So a public apology for compfreak... and thanks to wood for sheding new light.

except everyone knows I am legit, and I have 3 trades coming in hopefully (actually 4..)

Overall its mainly for noobs...and if you dont trust me you can fuck yourself D

I wouldn't agree with 10 being a legit marker.
That can be "had" in under 24 hrs of being a member.

I think it's best to use common sense.
Obviously if the person has a trade record of 7 but has 500+ posts, then they are legit.
But...
3 posts and a trade record of 12 might not be so reassuring...

Yeah, I don't trade very often simply because I am taking my sites one at a time (see sig), and those that I am doing I try and go the old-fashioned way with friends in real life. Plus, my trades have been spread over 3 different sites. But when I /do/ trade, it's legit )
