iTrip broken :'(

argh. what to do?

i already left +feedback on ebay cuz it worked when i first got it, but then I went to play it in my car and bam. no more output. The iTrip acts like it works the red LED Is on and whatnot.

i can't get a new one from Griffin unless I have a receipt and the people aren't responding to my emails on ebay! What to do?

i spent $30 on it and i'm not sure how i can get my money back -?

so i got my iTrip from griffin today.. it was a 100% brand new unit, and it STILL doesn't work! does that mean my iPod is fucked up?

Resoulation dispute on paypal if you really want it back.

dont buy used stuff on ebay is all i can say. i bought a used phone and it craps at random times when im using it. lotta my friends had bad experiences with used stuff on there too. i only buy stuff that says "NIB" or "still in factory sealed wrap"... etc...

yea well they supposedly only used it for about a week

i think it's a defect in the iTrip, and if only i had that receipt..

When you paid them, didn't you pay via credit card? If you didn't, then you should from next time.

You can go to Paypal resolution center and all that jazz but you'll not get anywhere with it. Or you could call your credit card company and file a dispute.

no i used Paypal... not many people on eBay accept credit cards.

Well I just found out last night that you can get an ebay user's telephone number (someone called me about one of my auctions o) so you might try that. I don't know where the form is for it, but look around ebay for an Information Request form on the user you bought it from and try calling their house.

I thought paypal had a buyer's guarantee where they'll refund the money should you purchase a defective product.

Your itrip is fine this happened to me as well...what you need to do is instal the itrip software on itunes then sync your ipod to your comp once itunes updates remove the ipod plug up the itrip and go to your car...itunes will install a itrip playlist go to that playlist and select a station that you want to play your music on (i use 88.7) once it starts to play hit the center button on your ipod it will blink 3 times then go solid. You have now programed the itrip to the new station and your itrip should work.

Correction you hit the play/pause button not the center button

actually, stroid.. I did this and my iTrip still doesn't wokr. ihave it set to broadcast at 101.5 and it acts like okay i'm broadcasting (red LED blinks) but then it doesn't do shit.

I've bought well over 30 various used items on eBay and only got partially burned once (a Rio that was supposed to be 64Mb was only 32Mb). So far, nothing that I've gotten has been broken or damaged.

Eatchex.. hopefully, you can reach someone to get your iTrip replaced.

One odd solution would be to purchase the iTrip from somewhere, replace the broken item in the box with the new one and then return it. It's a bit shady, but at the same time, it gets the broken unit back to the company for them to fix.

well if the auction said sold as is...then there is nothing you can do about it...i got burned because of this...other than that...ive had good luck with ebay....also try a station that is not so common....like in the 80's, if you are in a major city, the high 90s and low 100's are usually dominated by major radio stations and your itrip cant compete

it didn't say 'sold as is.' I never buy from auctions that have that listed.

Well chex that sucks sorry i couldnt help more..that fixed my problem i figured it would fix yours. Maybe you can try it on another station

I've done that a couple of times before.... just let them know it didn't work like you thought it would. If you tell them it's broken, then they'll just replace it and you'll end up with two iTrips...

well, i called Griffin (again). This time I said it was a gift, and the guy is replacing it for me, so all is well again -D
