anyone buy a text ad on this site? how effective was it? I am looking to get one, i wish the earliest available slot wasnt so far out.

I wouldnt think it would be that effective because its on a site where everyone trades and does stuff like that, but I would try it out, and if its not effective, then it just goes to help this site pay the bills.

Once my desktop comes I plan on dropping $10 as a thank-you for the ease in getting my refs. I'll tell you how it goes.

Have you heard any news from any of the people that have tried it, admin? How successful has it been...excluding the Studio link guy, who was on there for like 2 weeks, lol.

LOL, the Admin's definitely going to say it was unsuccessful. I had my link posted on FON's site for 24 hours, and nothing.....Plus, people come here looking to trade (except for the noobs), so the text ad wouldn't be such an incentive.

id imagine it would be least effective here unless it is a little known site, and even then you will only get a few refferals, so little known sites or other sites off topic would be the best bet, when your targeting an audince in marketing you dont want to go to the beach and sell them snow granted because they came there for the sun and sand, however, you dont expect to be able to sell them sand in a bucket right? thus you have to find that middle audince who would like to buy some sand or some snow from you but cant get to either because of their location, the studiotraffic guy had it right, if i were going to advertise (lets just imagine 4daily was little known) id advertise that here as this board is clearly for people with a few dollars to toss to the wind, id imagine i could get a few sign ups

I tried the freeipodshuffel on the main page and payed 15 and I have no clue if it even went up.. It said next available day was the 18th when i got it but i have checked each day since then and my link was never up there... Hum...

maybe a rule should be made to keep people from trading for the advertised site. This would keep people from getting screwed over. Once the ad rotates, trading/paying for that site can be reinstated.
To enforce it, users can be banned or even have negative trades applied to their account.

that's an interesting idea... i think it would have to cost more than $10.00 a day though or it would be backed up for miles. It would be hard to police pm's and such though.

I think you'd get more for your money by putting a link up thats looking for something other than a ref for a free site. Its like trying to sell dog crap when someone else will pay you $15-35 for it. Your better off puting up something like that studiotraffic or something that people are actually going to spend time to click. Just my opinion though, good luck to those who have their link up

You can also have the link point to your trading post, so you get more traffic/views to that post that you wouldnt get if your post was bumped out a page or two from the main trading post forum page.

It's a logistical impossibility to do what you're saying, as well as terribly annoying.
Keep in mind that notebooks4free is one of the hardest if not the hardest site to find refs for, since it's so difficult to get 18 completes....

Also, I think the link would be better suited to advertising what you are paying for a site like Notebooks. I bet you would get some takers if you made an ad that said "Paypal'ing $25 for Notebooks4Free, PM me now!" and then linked it to pm you.
