I use windows, but I like linux. Windows is expensive. If I could get away from windows I would use linux. If I get a laptop, I'd put linux on it.

Because Windows loves to crash and have errors. Linux is a lot more stable and secure.

	I currently own 5 computers
1) AMD xp2100+ desktop, winxppro sp2 (parents/sister "office" box)
2) Dell dimension 3000 FreeDesktopPC - upgraded PIV 3.0HT, 860gb, 1024mb pc3200 - winxppro sp2 (my main box)
3) Dell Inspiron 600m laptop, P-M 1400mhz, winxppro sp2
4) Dell Dimension lilili, PII 450mhz, slackware 10 kernel 2.4.29
5) beige box CAD workstation, dual xeon 450mhz, scsi 10krpm 9.1gb - slackware 10.1 kernel 2.6.11.7
In a few days I'll have a Mac mini as well. I use xp for IRC, browsing, email, web development, and music. Daemons like http, ftp, eggdrop all run on the PII450. The former CAD box is my dev box, where I mess around teaching myself linux. I may move to the Mac mini for some of those XP tasks when I get it. We'll see.
The important thing to keep in mind is that each OS has its strengths. I don't think any one is inherently better than any other.
