Personal attack, anyone?

For those of you that will not want to read this entire post (it may end up being quite lengthy), following is a proposal regarding reduction/moderation of personal attacks from discussions. While I am sure a clear consensus will not emerge from any discussion or vote on this forum, I feel that everyone should give this some thought. Hopefully this proposal will enjoy sufficient support from the community, and be applied in the future. I understand that this is an online forum and it is (and should be) left up to individuals to decide what they will or will not post, but in recent days I've seen nothing much more than personal attacks on these forums. Although I refuse to name names, I'm sure you all can think of a few people who seem to post only for the sake of infecting this forum with their negativity.

Allowing these personal attacks to continue will undoubtedly contribute to a deteriorating discussion climate, to flame wars, and to users (lurkers, newbies, etc.) being scared away from posting at all! Further, personal attacks obscure the factual and useful discussion in a morass of accusations and counter-accusations, insults and counter-insults. I know personally that I have been spending far less time on these forums, largely because I am tired of the bickering. I’m sure some (hopefully not many) of you disagree with me, but lets see if we can keep the flame wars to a minimum?

it doesn't really bother me in general (as I find it humorous), but some of it has certainly gone a little over the top recently.

Anyways, i wouldnt expect many people to be on that list. Just cause if they are new and start doing that more then likely they will have been banned.

Hehe, I know I can be a little rough sometimes.. Coming home from long days at work can suck, and I dont mean any of it personally to anyone.

Also, features to ignore a list of uers so that their post don't show up in the thread when the person with the ignore list is browsing?
