Crap....http//www.webct.com/products/viewpage?name=products_vista
That's what we have here...as one of the Vista team members here said
I can only imagine the support nightmare when people start getting the two confused. "I can't get Vista to work."

Wasn't it called Longhorn before that?

I'm almost sure it'll suck....I use windows xp and 2000 pro, but I'm sure Longhorn is going to be bad. They are trying to make too big of a leap again from the XP that they are at and I think rushing it now. I'm in no big hurry to upgrade, and if my suspisions are correct it might be time to learn to love linux....I guess we'll know soon enough.

Wait so they're coming out with 2 things? Vista and Longhorn?

No sorry...Longhorn is what it was called in the testing stage but they will call it Vista when it is actually released.

Oh that's what I thought I'm just confirming. It might not be that bad. You never know.

Yeah, I think that is what ppl said about Windows ME too, but most people know that was probably the worst OS in PC history.

aparr from the devout MS fans, i cant see a big rush to get their new OS, whatever its called.
i think they will have to make a hell of a lot of new improvements and steps forward from XP, before would spend money on it.
if its not much different than XP, i cant see people spending $200-$300 on it.

you realize that your just speaking about single users. MS major business is with corporation and businesses. They'll be enough hype around the time of release that every major corporation or business will be enticed to upgrade their OS. MS isnt stupid they know who theyre most important customers are and can't fail in launching a new OS that only has minor enhancemnets. Ive heard that start time will be reduced by 50% and that users will be a ble to return from sleep mode in less than 30 sec among many other tech enhancements.

oh i know they make most of their money from business' and shit, but i was talking about the general user.
a reduced start time would be good, as well reduced shutdown time.
also some major improvements to IE otherwise firefox will just walk away with it.

Ya lol. Ive not been harassed ever for illegal warez and I have em all. Id love to see MS claim I downloaded illegal software. Im no one to them and dont plan on major distribution of it once I have it. If they say anything I'll say I downloaded it for educationa purposes not that they'll try to come after me anyways. The sw companies dont realy care about the people who download as they care about those that ditribute it illegally.

22-07-2005 13:52:51
yeah exactly.....when i started on the Warez scene, i thought i was gonna be busted for downloading a couple of programs, but im not distributing millions of $'s of the stuff....i download it, and use it.
the only people who have been prosecuted for Warez are the ones who mass distribute.

vista? thats lame. i am in no hurry to get a new OS. ms should take more time to make a good os than hurry up and send out a shitty one. i have never sold bootleg copies of software or anything like that. i have sold movies and cd's though. the prices companies use now is rediculus. (1400 for adobe creative suite 2.0 premium and 2600 for server 2003 x64 enterprise). and they wonder why we download...

I justify downloading stuff by the fact that there is no way I'd ever buy whatever it is anyway, so it's not like they are losing money

I don't bother justifying it....If it's that big of a problem I'll just switch over to linux, open office, and the gimp. That right there would cover all my needs and I could still use firefox ) To be honest as good said earlier MS doesn't care about us single users, b/c we easily could go to using open source free software, they care about corporations using many many licenses. And even then...Bill Gates has so much money he doesn't really even need to worry about them either if he didn't feel the need.
