Power Inverter???

Hey Guys,

So, I've been trying to hook up my computer in the car but I'm having a hard time. I bought a 400 watt inverter but when I plugged my laptop into it a red light went on and it started buzzing. I guess that means it automatically shuts it down so it wont do any damage because there's either too much power or not enough. Soo, I took that back and got an adapter that plugs directly into my laptop into the cigarette lighter. Again, nothing happened. I bought one of those universal ones at walmart. For some reason I can't power the laptop other than plugging it directly into the wall... any suggestions?

LoL, I'm in Kentucky this weekend for the job. Let me tell you they have NOTHING at all in this town but a very very very small radio shack... lol... Thanks Stroid. yep check out that site. They have all the info youll need about pcs in cars. This isnt the forum you want answer for those types of power questions.

Look at your laptop's specs and make sure the wattage isnt over the listed wattage of the adapter your buying. It might say the wattage right on the AC adapter you plug into the wall. If it is, then the adapter won't have enough juice to power up the laptop.

Went to Radio Shack today... The Guy had no freakin clue what was going on. Neither did his manager. I guess that's Kentucky for ya,

thats a bad representation of radioshack i worked there for 2 1/2 yrs and we had to go to training classes and all sorts of shit i knew all about that kind of stuff but i cant really remember shit other than the one that costs $99 should work for your purposes but dont quote me on that

Yeah,
I looked at that $99 one, and it was only a 300 watt one, I had a 400 watt one. I talked to another guy online and he said that I need to get a bigger one. THe one I have now is only pushin like 150-200 rms and I need more I guess. I was told wattage on the inverter is only estimated. Soo I'm gonna try a bigger and badder one.
