im not entirely sure as i have never read either of them....or at least not enough to form a view of one being either left or right.

but from reading time a few times (no pun intended) id say they are lean more to the right......not a whole lot from what ive read, but somewhat.

hehehhehe

I think they are both to the left, like most press.

when you say press do you mean just the papers?

I heard once that most media sources tend to be more liberal than republican.

I don't know why and I don't have any sources, however, so I have little to none to back this up. I just heard it from a teacher I had in eighth grade.

Mostly print. In most cities though, you're probably gonna have both in print. In NY there's the Daily News and the NY post, at least one of those is to the right (probably both), but they're shoddy journalism (some of the articles are truly laughable) anyway and I don't really consider them legit. I've been receiving Newsweek for a few years now, and they're definitely not to the right. I never considered Time that different, but who knows, they might've changed. I know they are cooperating on the CIA agent leak.

The left/right thing can be relative as well, it's not like the press here want socialism, they're just liberal. For someone used to reading leftist press in Europe, the papers here will probably seem tame.

Television is unclear, Fox is number #1 as far as news channels go, but I'd say news from the main networks isn't. Examples are Dan Rather's blunder for CBS and Ted Koppel reading out the names of those that died in Iraq for ABC. Since the networks have more reach, I'd probably say that overall, TV press is liberal as well.

The internet is a bit messy. Most large sites stem from either press or TV (the main papers, CNN, etc...).

In general, if you read around you'll see that many people will say that the press is liberal.

yeah overall press is liberal

just some papers or shows express their views and others just leave out stuff that isnt

as a magazine i don't think they try to make it obvious what side they represent

id probably say that the printed press is more liberal than the televised press.

fox is clearly to right, as are probably msnbc and nbc.

cnn are probably more to the left.

fox is supposed to be fair and balanced but its anything but that.......i only watch it because its funny and most of their pundits are so angry and hateful.......i think bill o'reilly is probably one of the most confused people on tv lol

Radio is almost all right wing. Local and national is mostly republican views. Except for the Air America network which is decidely liberal.

Whoever said Fox is #1 is off their rocker.

I'd rate MSNBC's news coverage as moderate and not conservative, the only conservative news is Fox and they border on facist with some of their coverage.

I personally prefer BBC news, they report on all the American news thats important and they do it in a more impartial way.

I prefer The Daily Show for all my important news.

No, not really, but i do love The Daily Show. It sucks when Adult Swim does their switch of Family Guy and Futurama so that Family Guy is on at the same time as The Daily Show.

Yeah, "The Daily Show" is the best news show on TV.

Luckily comedy central repeats the daily show 5 times a day, lol.

It was me. Relax. Fox news is #1 in viewership, but that doesn't mean I watch it (I hate them actually). Geez, you can't even try to be neutral without being accused of being a fascist.roll

"Fox News currently leads the cable news market, earning higher ratings than its chief competitors CNN and MSNBC combined by average viewership."

I read the Financial Times for the same reasons you gave for watching BBC.

yeah the York Daily Record is shit & the daily show is amazing!

i also prefer the BBC, not only does it show the main news going on in the world, but it also shows stuff that you dont hear about on other news stations.

also, its all news, no opinions like fox or cnn. its the way news should be; without opinion.

Along the same lines as the BBC comments, I've found that the Guardian Unlimited[=http//www.guardian.co.uk/]Guardian Unlimited provides pretty balanced news.

My appologies then, I misread. It's not hard to believe fox gets so many viewers, people watch it for the same reason they watch reality tv shows, shock value.

The problem with stereotyping either of those magazines is that they're so huge. I've read blatant left propaganda and blatant right propaganda from Newsweek. Some of the writers have an obvious bias in both directions. That said, my guess is that right wingers would say newsweek is more left but only because of the scandal that happened lately about gitmo. Both sides are going to say OH NO TEH BIASES!!!>@32

Just another reason to HATE partisan politics. It's just as bad as racism in theory.

I hate politics. (

To me the press seems more democratic. I haven't really read through this whole thread but that's just my opinion. Of course I don't read too much of the press.

No prob ) . It's hard being 'accused' of loving something as nasty as Fox news but I should've made my sentence clearer.

I think many people like it because it's clear cut (not saying accurate), as some cannot handle vagueness in the world... The theme song from Team America comes to mind when I think of Fox news.
