Me too. The new Simpsons epsisodes are usually funny, but Family Guy is still much better.

Simpsons seasons 3 through 7 definitely do, IMHO.

Recently, they've been really hit or miss but those seasons kicked ass!

If it was so vulgar, why didn't the filter block it out? P

Don't worry, I'm just joking around. ;)

I have season 5 on DVD and it is great. I am not die hard about new simpsons, but season 4-6 is golden. Season 5 has the Capefear, Sideshow Bob episode.

THe best part about my dvd's is that my GF got is from one of the residents she rented to at our apartments. He is one of the top VP's for Best Buy, and he sent the girls in the office a box full of new dvd's and cd's for Christmas. It was worth at least $500.

Season 5 is awesome. I can watch those episodes over and over again. Hell, I have some of them memorized word for word.

Jake you are the man, i thought i was the only one who had episodes memorized lol ... i put it at seasons 4-8 are truly perfect television ... family guy has laughs, no doubt, and i love watching that show, but much less thought goes into it, and i appreciate it when i have to think about something for it to be funny

Agreed. I will collect seasons 4 - 8 as they come out. I already have 4 and 5. 6 came out on Tuesday and I am waiting for my shipment to arrive.

Family Guy has serious laughs too even if it borrows from the Simpsons sometimes.

Peter Griffin "Don't make your mother mad, when she is mad she says things like 'listen to your father' or 'stop doing that, I'm asleep"

lol

I enjoy both, its just that the Simpsons has many years of consistent laughs which I am sure that Family Guy will accomplish as well.

don't forget season 3, it may not have as many uber classic episodes as seasons 4 and 5 but 3 has some of the best ones ever too

I disagree with you on that one. I think that seasons 4 through 8 were the best ones. The newest episodes are really hit and miss. Some are funny, others are flat out stupid.

Thats just my opinion however....

I agree. Just because some episodes of a show are old does not automatically equate them to crap.

And, a shameless but [b1c9dbd9a49]related[/b1c9dbd9a49] plug o , I just put up an ebay auction for a set of Simpsons Halloween Figures[=http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6202836692&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1]Simpsons Halloween Figures /plug

I can't stand the simpsons anymore. I think it's because they've made Homer so incredibly unintelligent that it's just not funny these days. ( I agree with you though Jake, seasons 4-8 are gold.

Well sometimes its hard to come up with ideas when you made 15 seasons.

Exactly. This is why they should have just quit when they were ahead.

While the old simpsons are certainly classics, the pop references in some of the newer ones make me laugh a lot more. I think the 'nsync episode in Season 11 was absolutely hillarious. Another good new one is the one where they have the box social on mr. burn's yacht. Also, what about the one where they go to Brazil and Homer gets kidnapped. Simpsons can still spit out good episodes, thats why they are still on the air.

This is very true. We are now accustomed to the rapid-fire high-quality laughs that appeared in the mid-period Simpsons. Any comedy show that comes out now has to compete with this.

It's hard to believe, but those early Simpsons were somewhat irreverent at the time (remember when Bart was funny/mildly shocking?).

Personally, I like the newest episodes the best. Although there were some undeniably "classic" episodes earlier on, the current pop culture references and humour is the funniest to me.

Absolutely. The same with South Park, they just keep getting better (and more shocking) as they go on.

Family guy actually seems to be getting worse as they make more. The first and second season were definately it's high point.

Yes, Simpsons is maintaining an unprecedented streak of quality material to this day.

Simpson's typically has some more brainy/nerdy jokes in it that I like a lot (especially when placed among the "low" humor and purely zany stuff). Family Guy does this too, but it usually just searches for pop culture references (past and present) and goes for the obscurity factor a lot. It's not usually as cerebral, which is fine.

Which is all to say they are both different and brilliant.
