Okay so I don't know much about flatscreen monitors besides the fact that they're flat, and save room on the desk. So once I get the $350 from Trainn I'm planning on buying one for around $300 or under. I was wondering if anyone could give me tips or suggestions on what to get. I'm going for 17" and I will go buy it in person, so preferably from somewhere like Circuit City etc.

If you have a lot of money to burn get the Sony X-brite series, they are very expensive but very very very beautiful moniters.

Well what about other 17"ers at Best Buy or Circuit City...

the LGs are kinda cool in terms of design, but color wise the pannel is only a 6bit pannel, when compared with dells 8 bit pannel. The Sonys would be my recommendations, though they are expensive.

i believe there's also such thing as 'ms' millisecond response rate/time... the sucky ones are like 16ms... the best/better ones are like 6ms or 8ms... the faster it is the less lag you get in games and stuff like that.

There are also two ways "MS" is rated, some manafactures use different meathods in which makes it somewhat of a "bloated" score, of course in their favor.
16MS is not shabby, given your not playing the most intensive games, 16ms will handle movies/typical games perfectly. 25ms can be what you call a bad score, but i own a 25ms and i play games such as CS and CNC Generals, only place i notice any "ghosting" is on CS, DVDs can be improved but neitherless its not bad.
Also keep in mind for some LCDS the lower the MS the more color quality you sacrifice. It applys to quite a few low "MS" LCDS.

good review sites, research which pannel it uses, 8 bit pannels are of course better then 6 bit ones

From what I have read, the Samsung's are very good.
Most places I have read, the Dell's aren't that great.
My flatscreen is shipping to me from train, and I picked the NEC shock
I know nothing about it, but I know I wanted a 19" and not a Dell, and this has I think 16ms response
