Most channels are targeted towards a largely white audience. Look at all of the shows on TV now. They feature a largely white cast.

Your position is not uncommon, however, is largely just a reactionary response to something society has trained you to feel you should find offensive. To sort of set the stage...I probably get along better with blacks better than any white person here at FiPG. My girlfriend of nearly 3 years is black, as are some of my closest friends....and we are ALL tired of people like [ic74b2aecb4]you[/ic74b2aecb4]. I could go into the psychology of racism and such, but I'll leave it to you to go ahead and do the research. This is because whites are still the majority. Marketing agencies need to appeal to their target audience, while not excluding any one demographic. It's not racism, just marketing. As a marketing director, would you feature a white actor in a commercial for "Sportin' Waves"? (Sportin Waves is a pomade used to style hair...generally marketed to blacks)

Well, its hard to find a happy medium. Everyone notices when advertisements clearly go out of the way to include each race...and if its all one race the excluded races are offended. My college has been trying (for a few years now) to increase the number of minority students here...I'm actually fairly certain that all of our billboards and tv commercials feature minority students. The thing is, white students here notice it and feel slighted. Whats more, is many A and B students are being turned away to admit B and C minority students, who will not only get in, but be given financial aid/scholorships to cover the costs of attendance. While the financial situation of students should be be the deciding factor, in this instance, it is not...the college is showing preference to minorities in an attempt to create a more diversified student body.

How the hell are they oppressed? I'm sorry, but I don't feel bad for black people today for things my great grandparents did to their great grandparents. They didn't go through any of it. I think slavery and such was absolutley horrible, but I don't think Jermaine with the bling bling rims and gold teeth was getting whipped at any time.

Very good analysis. Black people have been opressed and deserve something to call their own. Obviously they were promised other things like 40 acres which they never recieved and a lot of laws are made to benifit there standing. These laws or institutions are made to help the black community in ways they may not have been able to without these laws or institutions. BTW arent country clubs usually a white thing. And if you all forgot black people didnt get voting rights until about 35-40 years ago.

Isnt that called Affirmative action. You know when companies were passing up highly qualified blacks in favor of underqualified whites. These laws are there for a reason. How many black owners are in the NFL btw. How many black players are in the NFL. Why would the league make it mandatory that every team interviews a black candidate for a new coaching position. Maybe because if there werent rules in place blacks would just get overlooked.

Why is White America okay with white teens who go off and play sports and make money at a very early age but create much hoopla when its a black person. Have you ever lived in the hood bball. Maybe you should find some friends who are black who do live in so called bad areas. Or better yet maybe you should go hang out with a black friend who lives in the confederate south. Not that Im black myself but Ive been around enough to know that blacks dont get the same treatment from the police that whites get. Do you realize that a normal stop procedure by a cop in the suburbs is license and registration please to the driver. In the hood its step out of the vehicle hands on your head so we can search you and the car. I took a trip down to Fla onetime and was pulled over for speeding. I had 2 of my black frineds in the car as well. I wasnt asked for my license and registration but was yelled at to get out of the car which I did. The officer held a loaded shotgun at me like I was a criminal. Not sure if thats happened to you but I can guarantee you thats something white people dont have to deal with. Maybe blacks arent going through slavery bball but they are definetely being repressed to this day. Maybe its something you cant understand or havent been exposed to yourself. Do you think that would have anything to do with the fact that the crime rate is 10x worse in the inner city then in the suburbs. Police have to be more careful then. I would do the same thing if I were a cop. I'm sure they do the same to whites and hispanics that are in the inner city. You just don't see it as much because most inner cities are blacks.

There is racism out there, and it only gets enhanced by all of the things culture's create to keep their culture apart from other cultures.

This is why I took offense to the original joke, it is exemplifying the barrier and not removing it.

Racism IS racial preference. Even if you don't act on it, the prejudice (e.g. black people are annoying) is racist by definition. Even though I can sort of understand what he meant by that phrase, I could also understand if somone gets offended (that's why the poster even said not to take it the wrong way). If someone's offended by that phrase, why not just leave them be instead of judging them from the few sentences they posted here? And aren't we all 'trained' one way or the other?

I can think of some that are just as bad.

1) Women have the right to choose, abortion isn't murder.
2) There is no god.
3) The death penalty should not exist.
