I'm going to open ports on my router to use Azureus, I have to set up a static IP address...will this affect my standing on free sites?
I'm guessing not, but I just want to make sure.

static ip is local, it will have absolutely no effect.

Nope no effect. You're outside IP may change though, just because most IPs are dynamic. It wont change because of you port forwarding though.
Dont use Azerus it is made by Java, and Java is teh sux on PCs.

shareaza has an excellent bittorrent function, and its open source (hosted on sourceforge) so unless you fuck around with what you're downloading, theres no risk of faggoty adware.

Shadows Experimental BitTornado is what I use, but there is other good ones. My friend uses ABC Client, but I have never used it so im not sure how good it is.
And Java is the worst language to program something that takes a lot of memory, because it will double it ). (On PC at least)

Azureus is teh bombadeer, if you don't mind wasting a few extra CPU cycles for a good program.
