Please take a moment to answer a couple questions.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?

2) What do you dislike?

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?

I'm not going to delete or edit any posts in this thread unless they are extremely unconstructive. I'm also not going to ban anyone for expressing their opinions. So please, let loose.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
I love the Trades on the forum the most, and overall people on the forum.

2) What do you dislike?
I really dont dislike anything, other then the video thread b/c there are like 10 a week.

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
I would change the trading post, I would make two forums of it. 1) Refferal For Money 2) Referral for Refferal 3) Both

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
A slightly more mature enviroment than the forums I usually visit
2) What do you dislike?
Jug (hahaha, ha.) Actually, its a bit slow for me... only a few new posts every hour =\
3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
I like the trading system we have here, as well as (like JuG said) the majority of the people on the forum also D

2) What do you dislike?
I dislike the way that some/most newbies are treated and regarded by some of the members. (

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
Probably the way newbies are treated. If we didnt have a ncie flow of newbies, most of the people on here wouldnt be getting any free stuff at all, including myself.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
Majority of members, trade module. theysayjump has been a great mod in dealing with scammers.

2) What do you dislike?
people bickering over absolutely nothing.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
I like coming here to talk and have stuff to look at when I'm bored.
2) What do you dislike?
I think FiPG could use a new color scheme.
3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
All I can think of is.... Bring back Collateral.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?

2) What do you dislike?

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
- Can't think of a thing.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
I love the trade module and trading forums in general
2) What do you dislike?
The off-topic forum in general. AND prices for refs.
3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
The amount people demand for a referral, $10 used to be good enough for freeipods referrals.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
The trade module is the best, and the fact that a lot of noobs come here so it's actually possible to finish some freepay sites.
2) What do you dislike?
How some people are banned over trivial matters. If they aren't scamming or trolling, then it seems a bit elitist to ban them.
3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
I can't think of much I'd change. Maybe be a bit more lenient with noobs so they don't get scared off, which seems to happen fairly often.

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
The lack of reflink spam, spam in general, trading system, mature freebieists

2) What do you dislike?
Lack of respect (by all) at some points

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
It's tough to really pinpoint, because it's not something you can change with the flick of a switch. I would say, simply ask everyone to respect each other as human beings

3) If i could change one thing i would add the ability to make someones posts and threads invisible to me. (Lets say theres a person named x i dislike, if i could press a button on his profile to make x invisible to me that would rock) Like the ignore feature on IRC

Just B/c someone allready has it dont mean it would be copying, if that was true this forum would be copying off a forum that was made before it and this website was copying off a website that was made before it.

The only reason I think we need to have more trading forums is b/c of the posts per day are getting real high.

Thank you guys for the replies. I'm going to take a minute to address some of these.

[quote3e92e49a8b="deletrius"]little emoticon choices[/quote3e92e49a8b]
We have almost 150 smilies uploaded in the smilies page[=http//forum.freeipodguide.com/smilies.php]smilies page. They're really actually pretty easy to use once you get used to it. I'll add the top rated ones from that page to the regular list here, too.

[quote3e92e49a8b="deletrius"]the colour scheme[/quote3e92e49a8b]
The color scheme here is a very distinct thing. It took me a long time to skin phpbb, the main page and the photo gallery to look similar. While I agree that perhaps a change is in order, there's a ton of work that would need to be done and frankly I don't have time. If someone wants to edit all my css and show me, I'd probably use it.

[quote3e92e49a8b="deletrius"]the limit on sigs[/quote3e92e49a8b]
Sorry, but giant sigs bug the crap out of me and contribute little to the community.

[quote3e92e49a8b="deletrius"]trading seperate forums[/quote3e92e49a8b]
Since day one FiPG has been known for being a central repository for all things free stuff. Other than www.freeipodsandflatscreens.com (which used to be an even shittier geocities site) I was the first freesite. I pioneered the format you see today. I've always tried to consolidate information for easy retrieval. I think splitting the forums goes against that. I also feel that a single trading forum is a lot easier to manage, especially when we have to track down threads when checking up on crediting TR.

[quote3e92e49a8b="EatChex89"]the way people treat each other here. all the drama with people getting banned, mods getting demoted, and feuds.[/quote3e92e49a8b]

[quote3e92e49a8b="EatChex89"]site design. its boring, lol[/quote3e92e49a8b]

Sure, it's fast moving, but that means more opportunities for everyone. What about standardizing the way trades are posted and requiring icons that describe the trade? The post icons were installed to be a kind of poor man's subforums.

[quote3e92e49a8b="JUNIOR6886"]3) If i could change one thing i would add the ability to make someones posts and threads invisible to me. 1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?
The trading module is good. The 'no ref link' rule is good, and the people are pretty good

2) What do you dislike?
The fact that Admin, and other mods like to post random things when they are drunk. It shows immaturity IMO. The fact that there is retarded drama with who gets banned, and a lot of times the community has no say in anything like when people get banned for personal reasons. The color scheme does get bland. The fact that some of the members ALWAYS have to be right. When someone makes a post about their opinion, there always seems like someone attacks it in some way or another. And, it seems like we barely have fun anymore. A couple of months I enjoyed these forums a lot more.

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
The color scheme but I don't understand how to or anything. I wouldn't ban people because they had a bad conversation with me on AIM. I wouldn't overuse my mod privileges (if I had them). And I would probably change the way that people treat the new people like they are dirt. I don't think people realize that we were all like that at one point in our lives...Otherwise we wouldn't be here...

[bb30ef05e56]1) What do you like about FiPG Forums? [/bb30ef05e56]
The site is fast-loading and simple to navigate. I think this takes precedence over aesthetics, in light of other users' comments. The site's ease of use and the fact that participation in the forums is high,
2) What do you dislike? [\b]
Scamming is more prevalent than it should be and n00bs are banned far more frequently than they should be. In a speech about immigration, a wise man once said that you can judge a nation by how it treats its most vulnerable members...
3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be? [\b]
For PayPal trades, I think some sort of escrow component would be extremely useful. It's difficult to prevent scamming for ref-for-ref trades, but escrow would make it much safer to pay for trades. Sure, it would slow things down a bit, but I'd be happy to wait another few days than lose $50.

I like the people.
I love off topic as well since I don't really trade much anymore but there are almost always people around in OT to have a discussion or whatnot with.
I like the fact that you add things to the site often that make it better.
I love the post icons =) but I think you should add the ones I made and posted in that other forum a while back.
I like the current moderators, much less drama than we used to have.

I don't like the color scheme and would love to see someone take on the job of editing it. An easier solution would be to have another contest to see if we can get a better forum logo made... someone here must have some sweet photoshop skills.
I don't like the constant video threads in OT... this should be stopped somehow.
I don't like the forums for not proven legit sites. I know this is a source of site revenue but it promotes sites that usually end up being scams.

I would like to see a script that detects if a large image is posted... say over 600px wide and doesn't allow it to be shown. It screws up the formatting of the site. Horizontal scroll sucks. The same for long urls.
I would like to see (as someone else suggested elsewhere) an icon system for trade points. Similar to the color on the TR that resulted from another one of these 'what can i improve' threads. Like ebay, but maybe with ipods. Give me an ok and I could easily make some small icons for that.
I would like to see more of a crack down on people asking me if i can do freeipods -P
And I'd like to see a better tongue sticking out emoticon.

This has happened only a couple times, and it's really not that big of a deal. [quote59868efc1e="nate08"]The fact that there is retarded drama[/quote59868efc1e]
We do what we can to reduce drama.

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"]a lot of times the community has no say in anything like when people get banned for personal reasons.[/quote59868efc1e]
Can you give me an example of someone getting banned for personal reasons? I don't think going to the community about bans is a very reasonable idea. Lets say we had run a poll for 1/10th of all bans ever placed. That's 140 polls. Would that solve anything? There's a reason we have moderators, and that reason is because their judgement in these matters is trusted.

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"]The color scheme does get bland.[/quote59868efc1e]
Make a better one.

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"]The fact that some of the members ALWAYS have to be right. When someone makes a post about their opinion, there always seems like someone attacks it in some way or another. This isn't constructive, it's just complaining.

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"] I wouldn't ban people because they had a bad conversation with me on AIM. [/quote59868efc1e]
Again, when did this happen?

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"]I wouldn't overuse my mod privileges (if I had them). [/quote59868efc1e]
Both times (of which I'm aware) that this happened (wood/sweeed), there were consequences. You'll notice that neither of them are mods anymore.

[quote59868efc1e="nate08"]And I would probably change the way that people treat the new people like they are dirt. I don't think people realize that we were all like that at one point in our lives...Otherwise we wouldn't be here...[/quote59868efc1e]

I love the forums for the people I've met and the psuedo friendships I've made.

I really don't like when people complain about how n00bs are treated. I was a n00b here once, and I didn't ask stupid ass questions. I used the search feature like a good girl and when I couldn't find the answer, THEN I would post. I also never posted my ref link.

I read the rules. If a n00b doesn't do that first, they deserved to get flamed, IMO. But can anyone do anything about that? Nope. )

I can't think of anything I'd want changed that anyone could do anything about. I can complain as well as the next person about taking forever about banning issues, n00bs, and jackasses, but no one can change that.

What I like?
Well lets see I love that I can express my opinion and that if people disagree with me they will say it. Everyone here (well almost everyone) is ready to be helpful and give you advice on pretty much anything, and its well one the best damn forums out there. I feel like everyone has a voice here and their opinion matters, beyond that you get free shit and.

Our tr system and trading forum its the best out there without a doubt

the ability to block large sigs

What I don't like?
Newbs that have been here a couple days or weeks and think they know how to run the fourms better and that the rules we have are pointless

People without morals and scammers (and I think this site does an amazing job of weeding these people out) however IMO there have been a couple people and situations that I am not sure about

The lack of respect for MODs that I have been seeing recently all I have to say about that is WTF

The lack of gratitude from some of the people on this site(if someone helped you say thanks, or thank a mod/admin they put up with alot of shit and get little in return)

that when I block large sigs I block the avatar as well but eh

One thing I could change
I would add a forum dedicated to me...nah I like things the way they are now....or I might add a limit to how many posts you can make in one day before you reach a certain rank so we don't get noob post flooders

justinag06

1) Trading system and forums. I actually like having only one trading forum, that way people arent just lookin in the one they are using, they see all the deals available to them.
oh and the block sigs thing...awesome
2)certain trading aspects that probably cant be fixed, oh and also the way people bump their own posts in the trading forum. Also uncertaintly of people i'm trading with. I have nothing against young people on here, but I dont wanna trade with a 14 yr old.
3) How about a freebie/deals sub forum. Maybe put it under the offtopic, where people can post completly free non ref stuff they see, or just really good deals.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this could be a very valuable usefull forum.

another idea, just outta left field here. is a forum IM system. I think this would help speed up trades and eliminate AIM scammers. I know nothing about how to do go about doing this though. I guess theres chat but ive never tried to use it, does it just log us in as our actuall names or do we get to pick names agan for it?

how about our own rate the offers type subforum or section? would this be too close to violatin TOS and such for sites or you? If it got a greenlight from Jake and Trainn-Alan i'm sure most other owners would go along with it, and would clear up a lot of newbie question treads.

Or a poker/casino subforum for discussing and trading said sites. Maybe its just me since ive been doing this lately but there seems to be a rising interest in said sites at the moment.

Why just focus on ipods when we can disscuss all the ways we can make money?

Also one last thing, the whole hidden user thing. I don't use it, I wouldnt care if a mod used it but I dont think users should be able too. It would only benifit scammers I'd think. Not really sure how it works, if a user signs on as hidden, will he appear on the visited today list?

again site is great as is, just giving suggestions I think might better it and make it a little more streamlined

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums? I like and am impressed at how far the forum staff have come since the old days. I dispised many of them and the site in general because of how immature the staff was in the old days and stayed away forever because of it. But deffinitely see a difference now and its nice to spend time here now. Great job getting cleaning house and making the place a little more "professional" bos!

2) What do you dislike? #1 the trading rules, especially with cash trades. Out of all the places I have traded (which is a LOT), I have been scammed here and lost the most money here...and percentagewise, I haven't even done many trades here. Making me pay first for someone that never goes green and then gets banned from the forums or dissapears has always ticked me off. It worked some times but many of the times it made things a hassle. There does need to be some basic rules and order but making it a definite rule messes things up and makes it even worse when longer time members take advantage of it. Making it the choice of the two traders involved would ease that problem some. #2 being so strick about and banning people for posting links. Afterall this is a freebie forum, so having links should be part of it. Yes, spammers that take advantage are annoying and should be "scolded" and banned if they continue but on other well managed conga/trading sites where links are allowed to be posted and put in sigs, there usually aren't too many spammers that go crazy.

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be? well the things I consider negatives would be my basic choice. Maybe allowing congas if there is enough interest would be interesting. The more things that add more daily traffic and "addicts" the better ;). Otherwise things are being done well and everything needed is already here ).

1) What do you like about FiPG Forums?

I enjoy the trade module and trading forums very much. If I had never stumbled upon these forums I probably wouldn't have been able to come close to completing a site. It is nice to be able to connect with people who understand that these sites are legit and know how to sign up for them so you don't get people who sign up but don't do something right so you don't get credit.

Also I think that overall the users on the forum are very helpful and it is nice to know that you can get help with a problem when you need it concerning free sites.

2) What do you dislike?

I think as was mentioned before some people are a bit too hard on new folks...basically I get frustrated when people post in the trading post thread how the noob should put they'll go first in the trade....I think that can be worked out in pms and if a new person has problems with it refer them to the rules....

Another thing that I'm not a big fan of is when people say they pm'd someone in a trading post thread....my biggest gripe about this is the fact that that pm'd post serves as a bump for the person, and I find it frustrating that a post gets bumped just because someone sent someone else a pm about a trade....but that's probably just me and maybe because no one ever bumps my trade threads! )

3) If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?

maybe a better description of how karma should work would be good as I couldn't find a clear cut definition of what to do when I searched before and so I think it becomes very subjective as some people seem to be quick to give you negative karma and you'll never know what you did to deserve it, in turn not allowing you to correct any mistakes you might be making.....

Overall I think things work well and I appreciate you creating such a community to help with free sites, not only in the way of getting trades, but the wealth of information that is available through the great members of this community and these forums...keep up the good work...

yeah karma system doesnt really work. I hardly ever give people any karma, i just never think to do it. I also have no idea how I go from 0 to -14 in two weeks, I mean you piss off one person and they have a vendetta on you. So most people only get the negative here and there.

anyhow i gave ya +1

Yeah, I'll throw something together later this afternoon and get it all sliced and coded up, then I'll make a topic in ot and see what people think. If the overall reaction is good, I'll go ahead and start skinning )
