If you paid attention in school, you know that the past tense of “pay” is “paid” except in the special sense that has to do with ropes “He payed out the line to the smuggler in the rowboat.”

Haha. It's fine to accidently use them incorrectly. I just can't stand when someone over do them as if they never attended school or are screaming for someone to notice their stupidity. lol
