Okay so my friends have some fast cars. I have one friend with a 2005 Dodge SRT, another has a 2001 Suburu WRX, and another a 2006 Suburu WRX STI. Well after riding around in the STI I felt like having a toy of my own. Since my family isn't exactly the Trumps I can't get a new car. So I'm wanting to work with what I've got.
I drive a 1999 Toyota Tacoma. Lol...and what I want to do is mod it enough so it's one fast sob. So since I don't know much about cars, I thought some people here might be able to help out.

That is all the information on my truck. Can you guys list exactly what I will need to get in order to start making this truck faster. List what its called, where I can find it the price etc. If anyone takes the time I'd appreciate it.

Didn't you know we are all nerds here? Look around for a CA based car forum I am sure you will find one and they will help. They also have BST forums usually where you can get your shit cheap locally. Couple of my friends use to be into the fast car thing.

...dude we are all nerds yes. But there are a lot of people here with tons of experience with everything lol. I've been here long enough to know.
Well, take the truck to your advantage..
make it offroading fun.. there is nothing better than hitting the trails in a truck lemme tell you..
exhaust is always a good add on..
a cool air intake helps alot as well.. (unless you live in a wet place)
but with your truck I would definitley make it good for offroading..

Trucks aren't meant to go fast. Why are you bothering? If you really want to mod a car for speed, trade your truck in.

I believe TRD makes a supercharger for your car. With the supercharger I think you can get a TRD intake and exhaust system as well.

A Taco can't catch an SRT-4 (I'm assuming that's what you meant), and definitely can't catch an STI. It's a truck, awkward, heavy, meant for moving shit around. That being said, you can still have some fun. If you want it to go fairly quick and make it into a street truck, look into a supercharger (that's assuming you have about 3-4K to invest). For a cheaper route, look for intakes and exhaust systems. I'd imagine they make some for a tacoma.
From there, you'll need more knowledge. Look into new cams, a new intake manifold, throttle body, better suspension, all that stuff. Check out truckin' or streetrucks magazines, they always have Tacomas in there.
If you want to go offroad, which is what I'd probably recommend, it'll be mostly suspension stuff. Raise it (do it right, not just blocks), get bigger wheels, some of the aforementioned engine mods wouldn't hurt. None of this will be cheap, if you skimp on money, you'll build a shitty truck.
If you really want to keep up with your buddies, buy a car. The Jetta 1.8t, GTI, Eclipse GSX/GS-T (or equivalent Talon's), or what your buddies are driving (these cost a bit more), are all great starting points. Like I said, speed doesn't come cheap, my car has another 5-6 thousand bucks to go before it's actually gonna be quick.
Oh, and you guys may all be nerds, but I'm a nerd who does know a little something about cars D (I know for a fact that there are more car guys one here).
