If you use a notebook computer or plan on purchasing/receiving one, and would be willing to complete this short 15 question survey, then PM it back to me or reply in the post, that would be VERY much appreciated! It's hard to find people on campus to cooperate. They are generally rude. It's for my marketing class! )

2.)Where did/do you find information about notebooks you are interested in purchasing?
3.)Which of those sources was/is most important in impacting your purchase decision about the notebook?
4.)What features are important to you in a notebook computer?
5.)Which features are less important?
6.)What are some factors that will influence your purchase decision? (income, expected price, expected product benefits, etc.)
7.)As a student what do you most use or would you use a notebook pc for?
8.)If you currently own a notebook, were you satisfied or dissatisfied with your purchase? What features made you feel this way?
9.)What features you would like to see added to your current notebook or to notebooks currently on the market?
10.)What price would you consider affordable for a notebook?
11.)Would you be more likely to buy a notebook if it came with free accessories? (Flash Drive, Printer, Web Cam, Digital Camera, MP3 Player, etc.)

Yes
2.)Where did/do you find information about notebooks you are interested in purchasing?
Dell, I have bought from them before.
3.)Which of those sources was/is most important in impacting your purchase decision about the notebook?
Past experience.
4.)What features are important to you in a notebook computer?
Speed(processor and graphics), mobility, battery life.
5.)Which features are less important?
Sound/speakers
6.)What are some factors that will influence your purchase decision? (income, expected price, expected product benefits, etc.)
Price, especially with the higher end models the price really jumps.
7.)As a student what do you most use or would you use a notebook pc for?
Games and word processing.
8.)If you currently own a notebook, were you satisfied or dissatisfied with your purchase? What features made you feel this way?
The one I bought (Dell Inspiron 9300) and it is way to big and should have bought a small model because it isn't mobile at all.
9.)What features you would like to see added to your current notebook or to notebooks currently on the market?
Better battery life.
10.)What price would you consider affordable for a notebook?
$800
11.)Would you be more likely to buy a notebook if it came with free accessories? (Flash Drive, Printer, Web Cam, Digital Camera, MP3 Player, etc.)

Quick and understandable (English speaking - no offense.)

1.)Do you currently own or plan to own a notebook pc?
I use a notebook at work and I currently own one for home use.
2.)Where did/do you find information about notebooks you are interested in purchasing?
Because I was able to pick out and configure my own for work, I looked at IBM, Dell, and HP/Compaq (those are the top companies Purdue gets discounts from).
3.)Which of those sources was/is most important in impacting your purchase decision about the notebook?
I wanted a lightweight notebook that could replace a desktop machine, without it being too pricey. I found that Dell has several notebooks that fit the bill.
4.)What features are important to you in a notebook computer?
Weight, power, and decent price.
5.)Which features are less important?
Extra media.
6.)What are some factors that will influence your purchase decision? (income, expected price, expected product benefits, etc.)
When it comes down to it, if I can get a decent price for a decent notebook, I'd take it.
7.)As a student what do you most use or would you use a notebook pc for?
When I was a student, I had a notebook so I could do homework outside of my room. Because Purdue's wireless network covers most student lounge-type areas, I could do homework and laundry at the same time.
8.)If you currently own a notebook, were you satisfied or dissatisfied with your purchase? What features made you feel this way?
Professional use I love the notebook I use at work. I am very satisfied with the purchase.
Personal use The notebook I have at home was an excellent purchase. The only problem I have now is that the battery wont' stay charged, and the notebook is significantly out of date.
9.)What features you would like to see added to your current notebook or to notebooks currently on the market?
CDRW included, with no extra price. It's standard on most desktop machines, why shouldn't it be standard on notebooks?
10.)What price would you consider affordable for a notebook? $700-1000
11.)Would you be more likely to buy a notebook if it came with free accessories? (Flash Drive, Printer, Web Cam, Digital Camera, MP3 Player, etc.)
YES.
12.)Which accessories do you think would be most useful if added to your notebook purchase?
Carrying bag, DVD drive, or optical mouse.
13.)How important is a warranty in your purchase decision?
Depends on the company. Some companies have machines that conk out in the first year, so a 3 year warranty would be VERY important. With other companies, you might purchase a 3 year warranty and never use it.
14.)How long should a warranty on a notebook be?
From 2-3 years.
15.)What customer service features are important to you?
A customer service representative should listen to the caller. Nothing is more frustrating than telling the rep what you've done for troubleshooting only to have them make you try it again. If I didn't give detailed results, I could understand, but to have the rep ignore what you just told them is annoying.

1.)Do you currently own or plan to own a notebook pc?
I own one.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
2.)Where did/do you find information about notebooks you are interested in purchasing?
Generally magazines, sometimes I went to stores and checked 'em out in person.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
3.)Which of those sources was/is most important in impacting your purchase decision about the notebook?
Going to the store. I had the actual notebook and price right there in front of me; I was sure about what exactly I was getting and how much I would be paying.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
4.)What features are important to you in a notebook computer?
The screen, processor and RAM speed/quality, and the video card(chip).[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
5.)Which features are less important?
The keyboard, material the notebook's shell is made of, additional software they add and beef up the cost for as a result (I hate that) and the presence of a floppy drive.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
6.)What are some (financial) factors that will influence your purchase decision? (income, expected price, expected product benefits, etc.)
Rebates, discounts, and any budget I might have.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
7.)As a student what do you most use or would you use a notebook pc for?
Writing papers and whatnot, I guess.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
8.)If you currently own a notebook, were you satisfied or dissatisfied with your purchase? What features made you feel this way?
I was dissatisfied only because of the battery life and video chip quality. The battery lasted barely an hour and a half without gaming, and when I was gaming the quality was horrible, thanks to the GeForce Mx4000 chip. roll[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
9.)What features you would like to see added to your current notebook or to notebooks currently on the market?
Full-sized or maybe half-sized video cards that can be removed from the notebook for upgrading, as well as the same feature for the other components.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
10.)What price would you consider affordable for a notebook?
Affordable? Around $800, I'd say.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
11.)Would you be more likely to buy a notebook if it came with free accessories? (Flash Drive, Printer, Web Cam, Digital Camera, MP3 Player, etc.)
Probably, as long as it isn't something crappy (mousepad, tiny flash drive, etc.)[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
12.)Which accessories do you think would be most useful if added to your notebook purchase?
A compact digital camera. It would further exemplify the idea of "portablility" and I'd probably take the two everywhere.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
13.)How important is a warranty in your purchase decision?
Very, very important. Computers break down, it's a fact of life. Most of the time it's not a question of "if", but "when" it'll break down, so a sound warranty is definitely a great asset to a notebook purchase, mine especially.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
14.)How long should a warranty on a notebook be?
A few years, ideally 2-4.[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
15.)What customer service features are important to you?
Customer Service should always, always be willing to help and not just point fingers at other manufacturers if a problem arises. It's happened to me many times, so I find that quality to be very important. Also, the reps shouldn't be overly persistent to offer different services if you want to cancel (-cough-AOL-cough-).[/colorc9c1f3b79a]
