Basically it's something to do instead of sitting on your ass at the computer. Some people on SA are making $50-100/day doing this. I'm just doing it in my spare time and have yet to go longer than 15 minutes without ADDing to do anything else. But hey, now I can get paid to sit in class!

I agree, some of these pictures are rediculous are impossible to tell what is in the picture. I've seen a ton where there is a building 5 miles off into the distance and you have to figure out which one is better?!?

In that case, i'd just chose "none". I've only gotten 11 rejected out of 170 so far and I would say I chose "none" on at least 50% of them. If you can't make out the name or number, there's no way you can chose anything other than none because it may not even be a picture of the right building.

Yeah, 80% sounds about right. Most of mine are "pending" so I've not made much yet. Hopefully they will come through in the next few days... maybe they won't. I've not had many rejects out of the non-pending ones.

I just pick places that look like the front of stores and they approve them. I think the approvers just look and make sure that it's not a randomly picked image. If it's the front of a store, they'll approve it. That's how it's been for me.

Yeah, I'm using that utility, too. It doesn't seem to help much... I don't even know how it could help, unless it pushes less frequently used stuff to disk; even then it's just putting off the inevitable. I wouldn't know how another program could even know the memory is inaccessible, ya know? Anyway, as long as I do a quick restart of Firefox before it starts paging I'm good; it's just a little annoying. If I could solve it that's great, but it's no big deal otherwise.
johnjimjones, in case you're a little confused about what we're talking about greasemonkey is an extension for Firefox that runs scripts on pages which will make doing HITs on Mechanical Turk MUCH faster by displaying them better and making the pictures clickable.

I haven't timed myself yet, but I think I can do somewhere in the 200-300 range per hour, which is $6-9 per hr (assuming they're all approved). My approval rate is about 92%.

Very insightful. I have in fact checked it out for myself, but have deemed this program extremely similar to a 'pay-per click' website.

I would use the opera script if I were you, I tried the firefox gresemonkey ones and they didn't work for me. The opera one is awesome. Auto- accepts, then all of the images are fitted into one page and all I have to do is click on the picture that best fits the description. I use 3 tabs and it goes really fast.

Opera is awesome. I also needed to take a break when I started to feel sharp pains in my hand. wink Also, if all of the images are not fitting into one page when your submitting you can use that ctrl+scroll thing that makes everything smaller. It makes the pictures smaller so that they can all fit in one page, and it makes the text really small too. You can still easily read the name of the store though to choose the best picture.

yeah i don't see any HITs available, it's all laggy and occasionally theres a few hits that appear then when i click to view them it states that there are none left! maybe that's why it's still in the Beta stage

Here's something funny. When I tried to transfer my balance to my bank account the first time, it reappeared in my turk balance the next day (and nothing pending in my bank account). So I tried it again, same deal, reappeared in my turk balance the next day. Double check your steps. Did you save the script to a separate folder than everything else? Make sure you add that ;greasemonkey because I forgot to do that the first time and now it works for me.

Most people usually do a couple of thousand hits a day (2k-4k), I dont think that will get you banned. A guy did a bout 8K in one day which is insane. I dont know if he has gotten banned, but some people have gotten banned for getting many hits.

yeah, after doing tooo many too fast they limit how many Hits you can be working at a moment, which will slow you down.......... happened twice to me, just wait it out. 1000 HITs per hour is dammmmm fast though. working extremly hard i can get $26 per hour, but constant (about) $30 is amazing. what kinda caffine are you taking? lol

everything, you can chose what percentage of the original size you want the screenshots to be, pretty much you can modeify the whole page. select what content you see. select how the images appear and are displayed. auto accept. it has the whole shabam, just try it

yes, saw the same problem come up in the turking.com forum. Deal with the newer scripts is that they're quicker, toooooooo quick. here's the dealo sooo guys do get stuck with not being to not complete any more for 24 hours
since the script auto-accepts the next HIt, at the very end of your turking go to "HITs assigned to you" on the HIT tab and make sure you complete all the HITs assigned under you.
o yeah and there's some crazy dude who's getting 8000 HITs done per day over at turking.com forum. some people are also getting e-mails asking them to explain how they got over 1700 HITs done in an hour... sooo yeah i think Amazon is catchin on..... lol Get as much done as possible before it gets outta beta

The album covers suck! And most of them get rejected, thats why I dont bother to do them. It will just make your rejection go up and will probably affect you later on.

its slow today i got credit for 1 of my 200 clicks so far. they have realy strict rules for getting credit.
u have to put "the" in front of bands that require it even if it doesnt say it on album pic
it has to be first name than last name cant be other wya around
a lot of bots just copy and paste stuff so they will get fooled by these rules espcially the 2nd one cause most of the time it is listed last name than first name. i hope bots dont take over this thing and cause amazon to close it down. cause its easy money

None of the "normal" hits are working. And right now I don't see them working. I have heard rumors of a bot screwing up the image hits. And also bandwith/connection type issues with the Image hits. So I think for right now either A) Until they put something to stop the bots (which they are probably working on) and have better connections or w/e it is the image hits won't be back up or B) The image hits are actually starting to die out and now they have moved on to Music hits.
And some of you guys seriously stop being so danm lazy. If you want the new scripts go to www.turking.com and look for them or http//turkers.proboards80.com/index.cgi

if they were smart they would cap it a resonable amount per minute if someone is doing more than 10-20 a minute at best u know they are using a bot of some sort. its almost impossible to read the cd and than submit it more than 10-20 times in a min without a program.
also if they see someone with like 1000 pending hits noone in the right mind will sit here for like 4 hrs doing hits which is probabaly how long it would take if u did them without a bot.

Submitting notos doesn't give you near that bad of an approval rate. But the one bot that did 300,000ish hits last time I checked, only had a 10% approval rate...you think that would have helped raise some red flags.

Rumor has it that people are running bots that eat up all of the hits before anyone else can get to them. As for the script, there's a link to a post on the somethingawful forums that explains how to do it. They don't work on Firefox 1.5 but you can't do any hits now so it doesn't matter much. If you feel like making a little cash, download the music app from turking.com. You can do many more hits (for less money, of course) than the old fashion way but it has mixed results with approval.

hok im an idiot, i see the script just does its stuff when i go to the page ) got turkop and makes the music ones wayyyy easier. and it seems u get auto credit when u do the band names with a "the" and u tell it to use the "the", and also when u put the artist names in first last instead of last, first. id like to get more of those since i know they credit heh.

I've gotten around 90% approval on music the last 3 days (around 1000 hits). Make sure you're entering the artist in the form of first name then last name, not "last, first."

Yeah this scripts isn't so much that good. It lets you click the links but you aren't allowed to type anything in if the right option isn't there.

Looks like they removed the suggested artist names on the music HITS so you can no longer just click on a name with the script, you have to type it in manually as long as you know who it is.

Well this right royally sucks ass. I guess we can't blame them for removing the names though, it was far too easy with the scripts.
I was aiming for $300 to get the PSP Gigapack (costs equivalent of about $500 over here, so was worth it even if I had to pay tax etc), will be alot harder to get that now if they don't put the names back up, or increase the shop picture ones.
For those not sure how to install the scripts, when you get all that code in your tab go to Tools and at the bottom it says Install this user script, click that and the script installs and is usuable....albeit it of no use for the music hits now (
Best way I found to do them was multiple tabs, with Turkop auto selecting and clickable names, using Swift tabs to switch between tabs quickly.....my connection couldn't keep up!
