Finally getting my new Plasma

Many of you know that i was doing Evenmore4free for quite a while to get a new plasma. Instead i had the admin give me a check for $1500. So now that i have the cash, I have been going back and forth on what kind of TV to get. LCD vs. Plasma. EDTV vs. HDTV. What brand?
I had settled on
[u607972be7c]this 42" Panasonic Plasma EDTV[/u607972be7c][=http//www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=7759404][u607972be7c]this 42" Panasonic Plasma EDTV[/u607972be7c]. Panasonic consisantly gets great reviews, and are priced very competitivly. Most of the bad press about plasmas is unwarrented. Burn-in rarely occurs if you are not an idiot with your TV. And the life of a plasma has been greatly increased in the past years. But i was still stuck on the EDTV thing. If i am spending this much money, i want something that will make the HD signal look great, and not be stuck with something that is obsolete.
Then i saw
[u607972be7c]this 42" Hitachi HDTV Plasma[/u607972be7c][=http//www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/plasma/plasma/42hdm12.shtml][u607972be7c]this 42" Hitachi HDTV Plasma[/u607972be7c] is going on sale for Black Friday for $1799. The only place i have found to carry it is Sears, (who i usually try to avoid.) It is a very basic plasma with no tuners, and only 1 of each kind of input. So to plug in my cable, DVD, and Xbox 360 all using a HD input, i will need to get a HDMI receiver. But i had planned on buying one anyways. I already called my cable company and got my HD cable DVR box.
CNet reviewed the Hitachi that is the same as this, except with tuners and more inputs. It got pretty high marks.
I plan on going to Sears tom. after my pay check clears and buying it. Right now it is priced at $1979 (which is still a decent price.) Then they will price match it next fri.

Don't get EDTV when you can get HDTV. Are you set on plasma? Do you want plasma because its cool (kewl) or because you have little space? After doing a ton, I mean a ton, of research for my dad I found that the rear projection with the DLP chips are the best TVs IMO...

Send the check to me instead. I will pick out a t.v. and buy it, then I will take a picture and send it back to you so you can see it. Sound good?
I will let you watch twice if you want to.

My dad has a HD DLP Projector, and a 65in DLP 2 TV. Both are amazing, he had a 42in EDTV briefly, but returned it and got the 65in DLP for around $300 more.
He spent a year(not joking) looking into HDTV before he bought his projector almost 4 years ago. He came to the conclusion that DLP is the best.
check out avs forum. I think thats the name of it, just scan it those guys know what they're talking about.
Also for his projector he didn't buy a $1000 screen, but a $30 piece of white board(I cant describe it) from home depot. So if you are thinking projector think about it more. The screen works great too btw
I agree with wolfeman. Set your sights higher, just wait it out. Scour fatwallet and slickdeals.net find the best TV either on black friday or day after Christmas.
I'm sure you can get more for your money

bulbs for DLP televisions/projectors are quite expensive
in the long run any amount u save by going rear projection tv or DLP projector over Plasma technology can be spent on purchasing lamps/bulbs
i personally enjoy DLP, but yeah, bulb/lamp prices suck!

Plasma has some major downsides too. If pixels start to freze or if you have any real problem, it can't be fixed.

most new-gen plasmas come with a system to revent burn-in where the pixels alternate sligtly at all times.. also, if you have an excess of like 8 dead pixels on TVs they can usually be replaced or refunded within a certain amount of time... I honestly doubt youll notice 8 dead pixels though, not unless theyre all clumped.. Id get a projector if I had the room for it.. but for now I have to wait for my grandfather to finish building his movie room in Jersey for something like that.... I'll make sure he gets a good DLP projector or rear projection TV for the room... its gonna be sweet... I love goin to jersey )

Projectors are awesome but if you can't keep that room totally dark, they suck royal ass. When I get my Cribs pad, I'm going to build a movie room with a projector but until then our Mitsubishi DLP 62" rear projection is fine...
