either this Sony one
http//www.buy.com/prod/Sony_MDR_EX81LP_W_Stereo_Earphones_White/q/loc/111/90145505.html
or this ER6i
http//www.buy.com/prod/Etymotic_Research_ER6i_Isolator_Earphones_White_Pillow_Pack/q/loc/101/10402209.html
or the E2C

Budget wise, well i prefer to save money, so that may help me lean towards the Sony headphones. Though if the quality of the ER6i is that much better i may go with those. I tried my friends Sony headphones and they were ok, it felt like the ipod headphones, except it had no outer noises and better bass.
Pirmary question is, is the ER6i or E2C a justifiable? I will not be using the headphones like crazy, only occasionally. It will be used with a Nano.
And if the price is justifiable should i get the ER6i or E2c?

I have a pair of etymotic er6i's (white, matching ipod) and this is why they are great
-light and small enough to fall asleep with
-music sounds liso much betterli. seriously, when I got them I went back and rediscovered my music because it was significantly different.
-assuming you use them correctly and responsibly, they will help prolong your hearing. ipod earbuds and most cheap earbuds and headphones are crappy and so most people tend to turn them up really high in order to hear all the parts of the song. this is bad for your hearing. very bad. canalphones sit deep in your ear and they block exterior sound much like a pair of good earplugs. this means you can hear more detail at significantly lower volumes.
-car/bus/train/airplane trips are infinitely more bearable. with my earbuds in and soft music playing i find i'm far less fatigued after a flight.
-zoning out. i'm an introvert and i like to have alone time. my earbuds let me escape to a private listening 'zone' where i can't hear anything but the music.
i've owned shure e2c's and these etymotics and i like the etymotics a thousand times more.
all this and they're pretty cheap, too

I've got the Sony MDR-EX51LP (similar to the set you posted) and I love them. I've heard good things about Etymotics, and Shure has been making commercial audio gear for years; I wouldn't doubt that either would sound amazing.
Anyway, I got the MDR-EX51LP's as an ugprade (for lack of a better term) to the set of MDR-7509's I have and I have been very happy with them.

uhhhh, I just got the ER-6i as recommended b4 by admin... from Amazon.... so far I'm utterly shocked. This is the biggest ripoff and piece of shit since.... well since ever.
My ears are almost bleeding, it hurts so much to insert and keep them in there. I feel like I've just been earfucked 3 times in a row.
The sound is worse than my iPod earbuds, there's absolutely no bass, just pure treble, no matter how deep I try to put them in (did I mention that part hurts?).
The only part that is true is they're truly sound isolating, I can't hear shit even when I snap my fingers next to my ears. But that comes at a price of having something almost touching your brain. Unfortunately, isolation was the part that I need the least, as I don't care about outside noise as much as I care about sound quality.
Overall, I'm very very disappointed, I wonder if I can return them or something... Next time I'm buying earphones, I'm trying them on in the store.

sorry to hear that. some people have significant trouble with canalphones, but most people (myself included) just dont insert them right at first. try different flanges and sizes and keep messing with them until they fit right. use a mirror to fit them. pull down on your earlobe while you slide them in. wet the silicon flange before inserting. etc. odds are you're just not doing it right. the er6i's have great bass for me...
