hey guys, i was playing some CSS, and found this program, xfire from www.xfire.com , it basically lets u see wtf people on ur buddy list are playing and join them with a click of a mouse, like CSS. it supports 400 games and shit.

so what i was thinking is it'd be fun to have some xfire buddies online, cause right now i only got 1.

i play dods, hl2, css, ut2004. i have xfire but have never really used it.

It's not just you, it's been a problem since the game came out. As usual, Valve only fucks stuff up more than it already is rather than fixing it.

css and bf2 for me.. might sign up later tonight. css > cs1.6 graphics wise but cs1.6 owns for customization of servers

The only reason I own CSS is because it came free with my computer. Source is a game for noobs who can't handle the rigors of REAL Counterstrike (1.6). I'll admit that HL2 physics engine and the damage system are impressive...however, sadly, the community blows; most of the time you will wind up in a server filled to the brim with whiny 12 year olds armed with porn sprays and shitty music. Not to mention the hitboxes...because of the superior graphics, hitboxes aren't as accurate to the models as in 1.6.

Conclusion on CSS Noob Spray > All

Spray at someone's feet, and you'll inexplicably get a headshot...every time.

You're exaggerating a bit with the last statement, but you mentioned a lot of things wrong with the game.
While the hit boxes can be acclimated to (I don't even notice anymore), there are so many more things wrong with the community.
As you mentioned, there are way too many kids that ruin servers. Furthermore, there are way too many ADMINS that ruin servers. I don't even want to know the percentage of servers that have fucking custom admin-sounds ("Boom! Headshot" anyone? UT anyone?) and shitty admin-mods. People are so fucking quick to accuse you of cheating too just because you're too good for them. I've been banned from two of my regular servers in the past week just because I was doing too good so obviously I was hacking. That illustrates another problem with the game the amount of noob admins (any somewhat experienced admin should be able to easily tell if someone's hacking just be speccing them).
And while you can't just point at someone's feet, spray, and get headshots, there IS A LOT of randomness in Source. It is very true that it is a very noob-friendly game. It was a good business decision, but to die-hard competitive players it makes them wonder what Valve was thinking.
Grrr, I love playing the game in scrims or match-play, but pubbing just more often annoys the shit out of me, and those are the reasons why.

While some of those hits were absolutely ridiculous (especially on the third video), there were a few shots on the second video that were nowhere near the players head but they acted like it should have been a headshot (specifically, the shots running around in B on D2).

agreed, i did notice a crazy amount of headshots but i assumed it was normal. i kinda miss cs 1.6 now... ( why won't they fix this shit!?
