The only naive ones are those who are so sure that he doesn't exist without providing a shred of proof. I say it's like God, can't be proven either way.

I never remember actually believing in Santa. I don't think my parents ever lied to me like that.

I don't think I ever believed in him, I just new he was a holiday character.
If I were a parent I wouldn't make my kids believe in him b/c there's no way some random guy is getting credit for the gifts I bought them.

about two minutes ago wah!
I wouldn't care who got credit for the gifts I bought my children as long as I saw them enjoying themselves and being happy. Eventually they'd learn the thruth and the credit would come back to me. roll

Yeah, but anyway. You have a really good point. If I were a parent, I'd do the same thing. )

no ya'll are totally missing the best part about santa as a parent
the whole naughty/nice thing
it makes your kids strive to not bug you, fight, whatever the little devils do.
think about it you tell your kids about one month before christmas better behave santas watching, and then you can always use that as a fallback when your kids start acting up.
besides little things like that help a childs imagination grow, and it's half the fun of being a kid

I agree with this comment. When I was young, I believed in so many things, which now that I look back on, totally made my childhood fun and interesting.

The way Santa Claus is used is an affect of romanticism in America. I wrote an essay on it, if anyone is interested.

I was pretty smart as a little kid. When I was like 5 or 6 I was like how can he get all around the world in one night? I kinda let it slide until I was about 7 and then was like no way. I still faked it cause I wanted the gifts and my little sister was like 4...

I noticed that Santa and my dad had the same handwriting.

26-12-2005 00:26:21
Well at 7 I was 99% but still I was young and you want to believe. I caught my dad eating Santa's cookies when I was like 9 and was like, "I know Dad, I know." I think he was more upset than me...

26-12-2005 00:27:36
Haha, my parents did that too.
We (my sister and I) left carrots for the reindeer too, but I think my mom and dad just bit some of it off.
