I have an older truck and one of my xmas gifts was a Sony cassette player and some speakers for my truck.

For +karma, can anyone tell me the install cost and time?

this is of course best buy products, and a question for best buy employees. Having a way to get this for free would be even better.

My truck is a '92 and it has only a cassette player. I of course have the cassatte adapter to plugin to my new video ipod though ;).

Now, to answer your question.

I drive a truck, cd players would skip, and with my ipod, I go cassette in and don't require any more expense then a cassette with a decent output.

If the head unit was purchased at best buy and costs over a certain amount, i think its $100 which if its a tape player might not be enough, than they'll install that free... usually. the speakers you'll probably have to pay for.

i'm not a best buy employee but i'm going on past experience.

your best bet is to install it yourself. its not difficult, just make sure you have the right tools to get your old head unit out and the right adapter to plug your new one in. the speakers are as simple as taking your door panel off and unscrewing the old ones and screwing in and connecting the new ones.

it's when you start adding amps and changers that it becomes difficult.

but seriously, a tape player?

its easy to install that stuff. Also best buy charges like 40$ jsut to take ur old one out.

also most aftermarket cd decks have aux inputs so you can directly plug your ipod into it.

yea aux sounds a lot better than some shitty casette adapter. my brother and i were watching 40 year old virgin on my powerbook on the way home from oklahoma using the aux adapter so there was surround sound ). it was pretty sweet.

I drove a truck and my CD player worked fine. Buying cassettes is such a waste of money. They sound like shit and they don't last very long. Why not just throw an 8-track in there grandpa...

I have called, I've been on hold forever and gave up, I thought a best buy employee here might give me a quicker heads up.

No worries, you fit in with the rest of the replies.

Sounds like this works for you in whatever prison scenario you are in, enjoy your date with Bubba.

[quotebfd5ea963f="slease"]but seriously, a tape player?[/quotebfd5ea963f]

LOL thanks for the solid info, yeah...I know, but iPod and cassette adapter = easy and cheap. It's an old truck and i'm not out to impress anyone, not even Gigante and his prison husband Bubba. I also travel in and out of a lot of areas where they would be more then happy to break a window and take your stereo, so cheaper is now better x2.

I am an old man who is fairly crippled between a back injury and a disease called gout. I no longer have the urge to spend time under a dashboard.

I'm not buying cassettes, its for the iPod adapter, and I don't really want to spend a buttload of cash on an old truck. I would get an 8 track, they were wonderful players but it would cost more to replace the iPod with 8 tracks then the cassette player cost, ya wiseass overmedicated whippersnapper.
