Ebay or trade. I dont know how you are going to get store credit for something that you didnt buy at a store. If you did get store credit at apple, you would still only be able to get a mac.

store credit at compusa, they are apple dealers and will take it.

yea j4320, get the powerbook. i dont regret spending $2500 on it at all (not being sarcastic).its weird to see a lot of people getting into macs now. but the more people that do get into it the more developers there will be.

crynos, there is a mac version of almost every program out.
office 2003 = office 2004 or OpenOffice.org
firefox = firefox
aim/trillian/gaim = adium
mIRC = iRC
VLC = VLC
NewsLeecher = iGrabNews
FlashFXP = Transmit
Notepad = TextEdit
Adobe CS2 = Adobe CS2

Alright, thanks for the recommendation. I'm pretty sure I'll keep the iBook. The only other program besides Firefox that I use a lot is photoshop and occasionally dreamweaver. But I have dreamweaver on my desktop along with flash and stuff so I don't really need it on my Powerbook.

I just want a good solid latptop that is good at picking up wireless networks, and has pretty good battery life, and has good power.

osx is built on bsd and inherently hard to infect or infect to a point you can't fix it with console.
