Reading

I've been reading a lot lately.
What started it off was this book called "Everything Bad is Good For You", it's basically an argument that TV and video games aren't as bad for your mind as you might think, and it's actually pretty interesting, the guy makes a good argument.
Then, I read "A Million Little Pieces". I know, it's in Oprah's Book Club, but the book really is something else.
After that, I read "The DaVinci Code", I wanted to for a while but never got around to reading it.
Then came "My Friend Leonard", which is a follow-up to "A Million Little Pieces". I just read "Digital Fortress", by the same guy as "The DaVinci Code", and now I'm reading "The Broker" by John Grisham. After that comes "Junky", "Requiem For a Dream" (which is an amazing movie, go watch it), and "The Firm" (also by Grisham).
Anyone else here love to read?

Me.
I just joined my local library so now I plan on going every day (the 2 mile walk does me good) and finishing about 1 book every 4 days or so.
I'm reading Cirque Du Freak at the moment but I plan to get some photogrpahy books, Mein Kampf, Night, some books by Iain M. Banks (long shot but worth a try), Edgar Allen Poe, Nietzsche, Carl Jung and Noam Chomsky.
Anything anyone would recommend?

All of the books in my post above come highly recommended.
Dan Brown is a very good author, and James Frey (A Million Little Pieces/My Friend Leonard) has a unique style but it fits the emotion of the book. Basically James was a crack addict and alcoholic and he goes into rehab, AMLP is the story of his time in rehab.
I just bought "Deception Point" by Dan Brown and "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" by Tucker Max (he has his own website of stories, www.tuckermax.com) off Amazon.
I'd also recommend "The Autobiography of Malcolm X".

[quote0750b6752d="Veek"]Currently reading Bag of Bones by Stephen.[/quote0750b6752d]
The only Stephen King books I've read are "'Salem's Lot", "The Long Walk", and "Running Man". They were good, and I started reading "The Stand Uncut" but got bored (I was in 8th grade, sue me!) about 400 pages into it.

I think Dan Brown is a good story teller but his writing is kinda dumbed down. But if you liked DaVinci Code read Angels and Demons, it's got a better story.
I'm currently reading the first two books in the inheritance series by Paulini. He finished Eragon when he was just 15 and the story will please any LOTR fans.
After I finish those I'll move on to the CS Lewis books I still haven't read besides LW&W and the magicians nephew. Then I want to read Alex Garlands the Beach.
I'm a huge fantasy fan and would love "well written" fantasy book recommendations. I'm a bit too old to be reading forgotten realms but anything geared towards an older audience would be much appreciated.

any book by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child (they are co-authors) is a must read
start with their book 'Relic' then go from there.. almost every book of theirs has some of the same characters from Relic..
but yea those are some good books, and Michael Crichton has some good stuff.. i've read all his books already.

yeah I just finished the da vinci code the other day
i started it one night i got locked out of my apt so i went to walmart for 6 hours at 2 in the morning
I thought I could occupy my time there, but quickly got bored and found myself reading the only book in walmart I even wanted to pick up
I cant complain about the book though it had me excited from every page
im reading [bdb8dd81d6b]zen and the art of motercycle maintenance[/bdb8dd81d6b] now
for a really good classic short book, that can change your life
get [bdb8dd81d6b]zen and the art of archery[/bdb8dd81d6b]
not prechy or religious, very spiritual and teaches you to ignore all outside distractions and focus on your goal.
its great for athletes, I use it in my poker all the time too

OMG READING IZ SO GAY.
Actually, I love reading too. I just finished Shakespeare's Othello (excellent, by teh way), and I'm working my way through The Oxford Book Of Sonnets, as well as Hitler's Mein Kampf.
I can only read if it's by my own accord. I love Shakespeare but I haven't touched the Hamlet we're supposed to be reading. I'll probably read it when the class finishes and I don't have any deadlines. roll
If anyone likes poetry, I suggest Rainer Maria Rilkes.
I also suggest Sun Tzu's The Art of War.

Exactly, I don't like reading what people tell me to read.
Catcher in the Rye is good, whoever said that.
We are reading Macbeth in English Lit right now, but I just get the No Fear Shakespeare from Barnes and Noble.

Umm...currently working on the DaVinci Code. I'm a pretty big John Grisham fan though (law thrillers) -- best ones are The Client, Runaway Jury, and The Chamber. However another really good book is Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood--I read it for HS English class.

I don't really care, a book is a book. I probably prefer paper back just because they are smaller and easier to carry around.
I forgot another book I'm reading, it's called "No One Here Gets Out Alive", a biography of Jim Morrison.
