Perhaps someone has some knowledge on this..
I bought a viewmaster 4000 with a descrambling chip inside for my room tv (analog cable of course..) Hooked it up today, yet, ive got a pretty shitty picture. Ive got it on the STD setting and made some "F" adjustments, but still that picture doesnt compare to the picture I get without a cable box. Box is set to channel 3.. as is the TV. Coaxial cables are tightly secured. Suggestions?

I've always wanted a descrambler, but I've always been too cheap to get one and was always afraid of getting caught...

It's that thing they used in the Aliens movies.

lol
It's a box that lets you watch cable TV (thru coaxial) by descrambling the signal sent out by the cable company. Its illegal, but I'm not sure how they catch ppl?

I need to look into getting a sat box for free. That is where the real stuff is at.
hehehhehe

When you get a dirty cable picture, it usually means the signal isn't strong enough. Maybe the box weakens the signal too much. Do you have one of those cable signal amplifiers?

Wow, cool! Where can I get me one of these descramblers? Haha

haha, problem solved.. had a bad coaxial \
unfortunately, the picture on the descrambled channels is alternating every few seconds from "normal" to a "negative" or "x-ray" version of the image. unwatchable (

Where'd you buy this and how much...?

picked it up on eBay.. spent about 40 on it. unfortunately, my cable company is one of the smarter ones and has this "rapid random inversion" technology, which inverts the images every so often. descramblers exist that have a feature which automatically corrects the inversion.. however, the cheapest price ive seen on that is 300 bucks!

I really have no idea what all that means... shrug
I just want one that works on regular cable, where I don't have to do too much or spend too much.

whats happening is say.. on showtime (which I dont pay for), ill be watching normally for a minute or so.. then the video will become inverted, like this

when that happens, you have to press the button on the remote to invert the picture back to normal. a true pain in the butt.
as far as I know, the viewmaster 4000 is a great descrambler.. if it wasnt for the rapid inversion that my cable company is apparently using, id be thrilled. i wish I had known about this before I went and bought the unit ?

Do you just have regular cable? I don't have a crazy digital box and all that nonsense...

viewmasters are by default ordinary cable boxes. they must be modified in order to have descrambling capabilitlies. if you really want one, i may be willing to sell you the one I have.. depends on how confident you are that your cable company doesnt have random inversion.

I would have no idea whether it has that or not...(

you could try... googling the cable company and the words random inversion?

Yeah, I tried that. My shitty company (Service Electric) is out in the boons I think. There's like one result that matches.
What would your asking price be?

I dunno man.. I guess its a cointoss. Im looking at the Coolbox Platinum XP right now.. apparently has automatic inversion correction. I emailed the seller and asked for more details about that. Anyway, if you think you want the one I have now, I may be willing to sell it to you if I go for the more expensive model. Maybe $40 shipped or something.. Id just be looking to get my money back..

Alright, that'd be fine. Keep me updated. Now you've got me wanting one.
Oh yeah, one other question...
My tv doesn't have scrambled channels. They are just blocked out or turn to a blue screen. Does that matter?

Are you using a cable box? If so, remove it so that your cable is going from the wall to the tv. Then see if you have scrambled channels.

Nope, I never had a cable box. I think it's just the TV I'm using. I just didn't know if that'd effect anything.
