I am seriously considering trying my hand at handling a freesite. At this point, I need some direction as to how to get a script for the site. I know there are some pre-made ones, but I don't know where I can get a good one, or what a good one looks like.

I would also consider paying someone to script me one from scratch.

Anyone have any suggestions for me in regards to this area?

Learn to do it yourself and build it from scratch.

I don't know the first thing about coding. The time it would take to develop the skills necessary to build a [ia67080ec30]good[/ia67080ec30] script would not be cost-effective.

If you're going referral based, I think the only way you can really succeed is by having a lot of capital. Maybe you already have all of that worked out, but it seems there is a large percentage of site owners who get into this thinking they can manage; very few do.

lieditli I was going to recommend to you http//www.myeasyscripts.com/ but it appears to be down.

If you go with a premade script, you're going to very quickly come up against limitations. Since someone else coded it (and probably encrypted it, too) you wont be able to add-on easily.

If you can't make it yourself, I'd suggest you find a programmer who can.

myeasyscripts is up for me; I'll check it out.

I won't make the mistake of many other freesites by having too little capital. I'll be investing my own money and gathering investors before the freesite is even released. I have a friend who has a serve, so hosting won't be a problem.

I assumed you'd be the type of guy to plan it out. Good luck, let us know when/if you get something together. 8)

Eh? Why not?

I know people here would be quick to finish the site and cut into my profits, but I'm hoping I'll be able to work around that.

Then make your ref/cash ratio really low.

I've heard bad things about the myeasyscripts author. I wouldn't use it.

I second the 'don't advertise on freebie forums' advice.

What have you heard? I just spoke to someone who says that MES is great.

Someone, with me, bought a license for Project RAFS around 2 weeks ago.

Still nothing.

Did project RAFS become associated with myeasyscripts or something? I thought it was a different guy who did RAFs, a guy named Jeff.

It is different. This is a thread with a guy asking about different scripts, I was just telling him about one.

What is RAFS, and how much did it cost?

Let me know if you get it and what you think of it.

RAFS is $175 per install, plus $25 to pull their copyright tag from the footer, and $30 per additional site. The guy who runs it is named Jeff and seems to go on lengthy vacations, leaving prospective buyers and existing customers asking WTF? I inquired about making a purchase and heard back from him 3.5 weeks later. From what I've seen many people have paypal'd the fees over only to never hear back.

MES is built by the GoGreen guys I believe. I've actually purchased this script and done some customizations for my own freebie site and can attest that they give very good support. Can't tell ya much about the 3.0 version which they just released as I haven't checked it out yet. The price is similar....$200, plus $44.95 per additional site.

Hope this helps...

Would you say MES is worth $200? I was also looking at Projekt-IRS, which was suggested to me with much praise.

Anyone have any experiences with that one?

Myeasyscripts is the company name, Projekt-IRS is their referral-based freebie site product. Head over to http//myeasyscripts.com/detail.php?prod=pirs30 for details on the product. Like I said, this is the one I've purchased and am using for my referral site. I'll tell ya that I've spent a lot of time customizing the product to meet my own needs (branding, etc.) as well as fixing some basic shit that was screwed up out of the box (typos, bad punctuation, missing field labels, etc.). The fundamentals though all seem to work pretty well.

I really wanted to get RAFS (has a few more bells and whistles like instant crediter, fraud reporting maps with GoogleMaps, etc.) but after seeing the "owner" head south for weeks/months I figured MES was money well spent even though the interface isn't as slick. Again, the support they provide is stellar.

Oh, I didn't realize MES was short for myeasyscripts.

Anyway, that's helpful info. Thanks.

Anyone know what kind of script getipod4free and get4friends uses? I know it's the same based on the layout, and I like that it doesn't have a "I finished this offer" button.

BubbaMan

The Get Friends sites use Project RAFS as does The Free Project. From the looks of it, so does getipods4free.

$200 | Bit steep for a rewards website script.

As a programmer I can tell you that assuming your willing to do some hunting, you could get a pretty beastly program done for $1,200 from a programmer listing website. Keep in mind you'd need to search around, but a lot of the indian programming firms will do some excellent coding for dirt cheap like $10/Hour.

I stopped doing jobs with them because I got run out (too cheap for my blood), but their are several good script listing websites )
