So i decided not to be a cheap bastard and spent money on a domain name.
Now i wanna post my previous homework and labs online, but i want limited access. Is there any secure way to assign different users with passwords and also pick which pages each particular user is allowed to view? If i wanted to be nosey could i get stats as to which pages they viewed? Any free services out there? I was looking into bravenet, but what they offer isnt what i want. I wouldnt be opposed to spending $$ on it either.
Alright, i'm new to this too..... do i got my domain name.... do i have to buy hosting as well?? oops

yea you have to have hosting. the domain points to your hosting.
for what you want to do, make sure you buy a hosting with PHP support, then you can add on a script that does logins and such.

No, there are pre-made scripts out there; just google for them. I can't remember exactly, but there was one site with a whole slew of pre-coded PHP scripts.
Hosting..
www.xignahosting.com has relatively cheap hosting, but the support is terrible. I haven't had any problems with one of my hosting accounts, while the other never got activated. But w/e $10 is not a huge loss to me.
www.fwsh.com is one.. i tried to apply there never got accepted, I think it was because they were switching servers or somsething.

just use a free hosting like dhost.info and then use yahoo.com to register a domain for like $3 a year

if i use a free host and cover it up with a yahoo domain then i'll still have ads and banners. Plus i want a good host with low down time and stuff.

you are best off paying for hosting then.
http//elixant.com/ - They gave me free hosting but they closed free hosting for new users. Pretty cheap, though.

You can use .htaccessurl==http://=http:///url files to assign directories to certain users, or better yet, install a CMS on your site to take care of logins and protect info for you.
