Who would you guys recommend?
I'm heavily leaning towards Sprint's Fair & Flexible 200minutes (29.99/mth) plan... with which I get a $170 phone for free.
The plan(s) I do [b86fce6648d]not[/b86fce6648d] want
- Virgin Mobile
I really don't want to spend more than $40 a month either.

I have Verizon Wireless, I think it's 800 anytime minutes but I share it with my dad. The total for both of us it's like $40-50/month, plus they have the IN calling, so all Verizon to Verizon calls don't count against your anytime minutes.
I think.

yea my parents havae verizon, and I was looking at it, but their cheapest plan is like $40 a month and I never really liked their service anyway, it takes effing long to call anybody. I sit there for like 2 minutes before it rings.

I've never had any problems with it, and everyone around here uses Verizon, so it works great for me. Plus, the $5 unlimited text/pix message plan is great.
200 minutes a month? I would not make it.

I have VZW and like it alot. I just got a Motorola E815 from Kerms and love both my service and phone now.
VZW has several free phones (some pretty nice), especially if you buy at a reseller, like Circuit City (who has additional rebates on the phone). The waiting time to make a call is a phone problem, not a service problem.
Currently VZW offers 450 minutes for $39.99 a month, with free IN calling, which means all calls to your parents would be free.

Yeah, pretty much what he said. Except I got my E815 for free straight from Verizon back when it first came out. Gotta love new every 2.
As much as I'd love to hate Verizon, they are pretty much the best. Best coverage + most customers (at least around here) so pretty much everyone I talk to is free. + $5/mo for unlimited txt/pix/flix to VZW customers (which, again, is everyone).
But if $30 is your limit, good luck. After other fees and stuff, even a $29.99/mo plan is probably gonna end up costing you closer to $35. Then you're gonna start needing more minutes. Then you're gonna want to be able to txt/pix message people.

I've got Verizon and I love it. I get 450 minutes for $39.99 per month, which also includes unlimited night and weekend minutes and free IN calling. I also get 17% off because of the school I go to, so I pay about $40 a month after fees.
200 minutes for $29.99 is a huge ripoff.

I have Cingular and with Rollover you never run out of minutes. From what I've heard from other people Cingular gets great connections compared to others where I am.

ok, you say your parents have verizon?
add a line to theirs for only $10!
You may have to up the total minutes plan some, but even if you cover the full cost of that plus whatever extra features you want, you won't be paying more than $25. Plus, you won't have to sign a contract.
Plus I'm really digging verizon, great if you are in an EVDO (extended verizon something) where you get broadband. The E815 is a great phone for around $100 its a steal. They have much nicer ones also. But if you are in the EVDO area, you can enable Dial-up Networking on some phones and use it as a modem to get wireless broadband for your notebook.
howardforums.com is an extensive forum about wireless phones and networks and plans btw.

Add a line to your parents plan, I don't even think you can sign into a cell contract at your age.
Adding a line would be much much cheaper.
