Ok there might be a thread already for those that go to the movies but the search didn't show any.
Regardless it just came out on DVD and I have to give it some props. There are very few movies that actually surprise you at the end and keep the suspense going throughout the movie.
Don't want to give out any parts but last time I was that surprised by a movie ending was the 6th Sense. I know 6th Sense was very clear once I seen the ending but unlike most movie I didn't have it figured out.
Anyways great movie IMO.

I loved the movie, but the ending sorta turned me off. Sure it left room for a part 3... but its starting to get old.

Oh nah tsj, I meant to lump that in with the Saw movies. It was definately as well. The writer gets serious props on both.

from a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 7....it was pretty gory at some parts..especially the end of Saw 1 where the guy actually saws his foot off....but there are definitely gorier (if thats even a word) movies out there, like those sadistic japanese movies, i forget the names though....

ive heard so many different things about that movie....one guy said that he had to turn his head during half of the moive and another said that it was the cheesiest thing he's ever seen....so i don't know, i kinda of want to see it to make my own opinion....anybody have a torrent of it?
No movies scare me after watching "Irreverible," Saw 1, 2, and Hostel were all Sesame Street episodes. If you want to see one of the most fucking shocking movies ever, watch Irreversible. Even if they paid me $50 dollars, I wouldn't watch it. The point of the film is to make you so uncomfortable that you just wanna get up and walk away.
"Gaspar Noe's `Irreversible' is a lightning bolt into the cerebral cortex. For those with a strong stomach, the film is simply a journey into hell. But for those who might not have familiarity with the recent wave of French `shock cinema' (`Baise-Moi, `Fat Girl'), `Irreversible' might be far too strong an experience. However you approach the horrors contained within the picture, the end result is one of the most artistically daring and searingly hostile pictures I have ever come across. This isn't a film that is passively watched, but more a film that grabs the audience by the collar and takes them down with the events onscreen. Any kind of emotional reaction is welcomed from a moviegoing experience, but with `Irreversible,' the reactions are taken forcibly and violently. This isn't an easy film to swallow, but the artistic merits and pure adrenaline of the filmmaking make this film a rousing creation unequaled this year."

"Trivia The first 30 minutes of the film has a background noise with a frequency of 28Hz (low frequency, almost inaudible), similar to the noise produced by an earthquake. In humans, it causes nausea, sickness and vertigo. It was the main cause of people walking out of the theaters during the first part of the film in places like Cannes and San Sebastian. In fact, it was added with the purpose of getting this reaction."

I remember when I first heard Saw 2 was going to come out. I thought to myself "They better not kill it," and to my surprise they did an excellent job in my opinion. It is so crazy towards the end of both movies. That crazy music plays and all the pieces of the puzzle come together, it trips me out even when I'm not high.

i actually was just talking about that in Physics two days ago....my teacher told me that very low frequencys can produce fear in humans and so some horror movies use these sounds to do just that, produce fear and make the movie seem scarier....
but from that description, im interested in this movie now....it makes me want to see how gross a movie can get and if it really can scare me....because i haven't been scared by a movie since i was five....

Saw I was a good movie, but the acting sucked. Saw II was also pretty good. If I had to choose one over the other though, I would say the first is best...which is the case in a lot of original/sequel pairings.

at the end of saw II where the girl takes over his job and shes like, game over or something like that. It was sooooo cheesy when she said that, it seriously cheesified the cheese of the cheesy movie. But yea the plot seriously got to me at the end, but wow, cheese.

15-02-2006 06:16:39
I didn't think it was that cheesy.. We were avoiding spoilers, I believe, but since Akalic didn't want to I guess that isn't needed anymore.
I thought that is was seriously creative as hell. I saw both Saw I and Saw II, and think Saw II seriously was much more amazing. Saw I was a cheaply made movie, which used the same background for SO many of the scenes, it was ridiculous. I notice things like that while watching a movie, and it really hurt the experience for me.
Saw I also had much less of a surprise, in my opinion. In Saw II, they turn "Saw" from an actual action you do with a saw, to the past tense of "See". When you figure out the tapes, and you see some people at one house, and some people at another, it just amazes you.
The only problem I had, was that he ended up in the bathroom at the end? That's what the decaying body/skeleton(I forgot..) made it seem like... wasn't that all in some like sewer system type area? Because in Saw I, it showed the people running there.

Netflix had it in my mailbox yesterday which I thought was pretty impressive. In my mailbox on release day.
It was pretty good, especially for a sequel. I thought they'd ruin it too, but they didn't. I dunno how I feel about it being set up for a third one though.. surely they can't keep the quality up forever.

I liked both Saw I and Saw II. I never thought Saw II was going to be as good as it was considering who they had acting in it and I didn't think they could do much with the story. The storyline was really interesting and kept me in suspense throughout the movie. The director died? I know the guy in Saw I, the guy opposite the doctor, was either the director or writer along with this Chinese guy. They did a good job.

It's not really scary untill the end and even then it's more just suspensefull, jarring or hard to watch.
It's from Japan

I have that on DVD. My boy is a movie addict/entertainment journalist so he gets free movies from all sorts of companies and gives them to me so I have some pretty wacky stuff. We went to the Asian Film Festival here in Los Angeles and saw a movie called "The Three Extremes." I didn't want to go to sleep after, it was also from Japan I think. They get down with the freakyness.

I mean we rented it on halloween and midway through went upstairs to get on IMDB to make sure we had rented the right movie and not a love story.

"This was a very fun watch, and I am glad I got to see it before it left the theater. My recommendation....don't eat a big meal before you start!"
As for Saw, when I saw the first movie and the ending was happening, I was actually laughing at how clever it was.
