I'm looking at buying an XGA projector to hookup to a MacMini for my livingroom.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with VGA, SVGA, or XGA projectors from TigerDirect. I was probably going to get the XGA because it's 1024x768, which is a decent enough resolution to do some large scale porn... er internet browsing in the livingroom. What is a decent lumens rating for a darkened living room. Every model seems to have a 1500, 1700, 1900, 2100, 2500, 3000 rating with price going up accordingly.
I currently have an XBMC which I might also hookup. I guess that it upscales DVDs rather nicely.
Anyone have a similar setup or know much about it?
I'm also trying to find a projector review website similar to dpreview or steves digicams. These are awesome repositories of information, and yrojectors are becoming more mainstream I figured that there would be some site out by now.
hehehhehe

That thread looks pretty cool, except it's full of Patent argueing.
If I read it right. You take an acrylic mirror. Paint it with that mixture and you have a screen that works well with ambient light?

works well period but yes you are correct
we have to put another coat on ours there is minor refelection on certain parts of the screen
it has amazing blacks and a clean contrast, great screen for $100

Where did you get the mirrors? Once I get setup in my new pad I'll probably invest in this.

i hate how no specifics on prices are allowed on avs forums..... what possible harm could be done by discussing actual prices ?

I hate how that thread is full of that damn arguement over patenting the paint mixture. There doesn't seem to be a noob thread for asking some basic questions. No starting point for people that are breaking into the scene.
Some of the sticky's in the DIY forum kick ass. They say exactly what needs to be said. No more no less.
