He makes a lot of internet affiliate income and they don't take out any taxes beforehand like a normal job does, so it all comes at him at the end of the year like a punch to the face.

While that's true, the majority of my taxes are from FiPG donations which I choose to report. I could probably get away with not reporting them, but I try to stay honest where possible. Paying those taxes is not going to present a financial hardship.
I'm not looking forward to paying 2006 taxes though. I owe probably $3k already (

Exactly.. you don't get taxed $1850 out of no income. Your tax is a piece of a larger pie.

I got $600 back from the Feds and I only worked about 12 weeks last year. I think I'm due about $180 or something from the State.

nice!
lol dont ask. big change in money made made this year a year to remember. gotta figure out if we can lower it with house closing costs/taxes/etc but doing it quick on turbo tax -> depressing results
-$2500 federal (DOH!)
+$300 on state
federal should go down more...state should end up around $600 but still gonna net at least 1800 negative (
need to change that w-4

for those of you that have gotten laptops and bigger freebies from Nuitech, what did you have to pay? something like $300??? i have no clue, but will probably have to pay some extra taxes in 2006 on some bigger things.

Well, I still live with my parents.... oops and my dad makes around 60k to 70 k each year and my mom makes around 20k. When we add all ours up together, we owe about 20k each year. Not counting deductions and refunds.

Yes - cashouts paid are listed under 'rewards/refunds' or 'commission' on your schedule C (assuming sole proprietership). the money paid out is essentially a business expense and is deductible. i'm not a tax professional by any stretch but i've spoken with several and they all agreed that commissions paid are deductible. i mean, that's the entire reason why you need to send in a w-9 to high-priced freebie sites. so they can report the outgoing money to the irs as a justification for the deduction.
