Laser vs Ink Printers

I need to buy a new printer but I can't decide whether to get Inkjet or Laser.
I don't print much in colour so that's not a factor.
I wanted to know how long a Laser toner lasts.

Laser is better, the ink lasts longer than inkjet.
Also, inkjet ink smears when it gets wet, laser doesn't.
Anyway, if you're wiling to spend the extra $$ get a laser printer, it'll last you a long time (depending on what model/brand you get). 123inkjets.com offers cheap ink.

ya that's what I was thinking as well. But the ink costs $30 and a toner costs $100.
One ink lasts me a few months.
How long does a toner last?

toner will last a long time....especially if you are the only one using it.
overall, if you don't mind spending the money, go for the laser. better prints, and b&w prints still look good.

Regardless of the toner cost, a color laser is better all around. You will spend more on ink refills than you would the various color laser cartridge refills.
The initial cost is more than a cheap ink jet, but overall, they are nice if you need to print high quality pictures or photos.
The one HP I've used (would love to have one at home) is the 2600N. They are about $300 from the various Office stores (Max, Depot)

nope they've come down theyre only about $400 now.
But yea, toners aren't $100 unless you get OEMs, like i said, 123inkjets.com has cheap prices.
I would go with a color laser if I was purchasing a printer. I have a b&w HPLaserjet1100 that I bought about 5+ years ago and is still in excellent condition. I only buy like one cartridge a year for it and use it frequently.

well i would go for the laser, because it prints much faster the inkjet, toner lasts longer, and is probably cheaper in the long run the ink

you don't actually have to apply for anything (VIRTUAL CC that is). if you have a paypal account and have funds in your account, follow these steps.
1. Log into your account
2. Click "Withdraw Funds" tab in the top menu named "My Account"
3. Select "Shop online with a PayPal virtual card"
A new window will open in the style of a little bar that will contain your virtual number and info. It's pretty cool

Toner lasts forever. I haven't had to change mine in the past 4 years, and I print 30-50 pages per week.

See if you can find a Samsung ML-2010 or a ML-1740. I picked up a ML-1740 for $50 at BestBuy and it's awesome.

You two guys are like my heroes. <3 Call me for BJ.
I found the ML-2010 for $120. What would the difference be between the two models?

Yep I have a ML 1720 that I got at Staples after rebate for $10. I bought a refill toner pack from tonerkits.com (or tonerkits on eBay) for about $7 and I'm good to go another several thousand pages. Highly recommended.

For those of you that print in color, think about getting an inkjet with a ink supply system, they are relatively cheap off of ebay and easily refillable.

LOL, I have two of the same. ) They work great, but the cartridges are pricey. So far I haven't splurged for replacements. (Using a different printer atm)

With a laser printer, you could do the InkBLVD offer for a freebie site and kill two birds in one stone.
Does anyone know of a good Multi-Function laser printer?
My mom has had a Brother MFC-6800 at her store for a while and it's starting to die on us (toner spilling and running out more soon). So we've been starting to think of a replacement.
It needs to have Fax capabilities, scanner, etc. Color would be a plus, but not a requirement.
