Lost ~ When does it start getting good?

My wife and I started watching Lost (from the pilot onwards) tonight (about 8 hours worth) and although it's kinda good, I'm not seeing the big deal. shrug
With 24, it kept me interested and intrigued and I could have watched it constatly from Series 1 right through to the end of Series 4 and not be bored. With Lost, it's not really doing much to make me want to keep watching it for hours on end.
We just finished watching episode 9 of Series 1 where Said (sayeed) was let go by Danielle and was running through the Jungle on his own when some dodgy noises started up.
So when does it start getting good or to the point where I want to watch it for long periods of time? Or if I'm not hooked already does that mean I probably never will be?

I think people are turned off this show because they have been waiting for an episode that divulges all the secrets (the monster, the others, etc.) The writers of LOST have stated that they're not going to keep stretching out the story over like 5 season when they can end it at season 2 or 3. Personally, I know what you're talking about, but the last couple of episodes have sparked my interest in the show again.
stop watching lost, its a nver ending story that is only going to waste your time. now 24 is the show to watch, it gets stuff done and you dont have to waste your time watching 20 min of the show before like lost likes to do sometimes.

Some people like it, some don't. I personally think 24 is stupid... shrug

I agree. I liked season 1 of 24, but after that i got really bored with it. I was hooked right away with the first season of Lost. Before last weeks episode, they were getting a little to tired, but last week kicked ass and brought about a lot of cool things.

keep watching. You don't have enough questions yet.
Things might still be a little tooo rosy on the island.
It will get worse.

Always Sunny was one of the best shows of last season. I hope they come back soon with a new one. I think it is almost as good as Arrested Development.
The Shield also rocks and Thief looks like it will too.

rent the rest of season 1, if you don't like it by the end of the season you won't like season 2.
it's all about the unanswered questions... why are they on the island and why the hell are polar bears running around on this island and such.

yeah I go back and forth with 24 too, i liked the first two seasons, didn't care for the next one, didn't watch the last one. This one is good, but maybe thats just cause I haven't watched it in a while. Also the show gets more predictable as it goes on, it gets old after a while.
now the sopranos is the best show on TV, possibly ever IMO. The show is always edgy, the characters always intresting, the acting great, the writting intreguing and hillarious at the same time. You always feel for each and every character love em or hate em, and even the most boring episode ideas like driving around looking at colleges or a funeral are exciting. I can't wait for the new season

I agree that sopranos is a great show, but to take the show off the air for 2 years was possibly the worst case of "we don't have our act together" that I've ever seen in a tv network... besides fox cancelling everything just when it gets mildly entertaining. I can't wait for season 6 either. My prediction is Chris is going to turn on the family.

I love Lost and 24. I think Lost gets really good towards the end of the first season when are the crazy shit starts happening. 24 is great too but a totally different type of show. On 24 you're like, how is Jack going to get out of this one but you know full well he is going to somehow break a law, disobey someone, and kill a fool to save the innocents. On Lost you just never know whats going to happen and its so refreshing to have something original last. That's why I like The Office too. Originality baby...

Well I have the rest of Series 1 and some of Series 2 and I am going to watch them all unles it just turns to shite.
I think the Polar Bears are there from some kind of scientific trip/experiment/being transported to a zoo or something, and had to adapt to their environment.
I'm not too sure about that Lock guy, I mean I kinda like him but there's something about him. I think he hit Said over the head when he got the tranceiver signal. shrug
I can see it all going the way of Lord Of The Flies.

See that's the great thing about Lost. Trying to figure out WTF is going on. It keeps getting weirder too...

maybe, but I think he might have gone with adrianna at the end of the last one. I do think he will be a major part of the finale though, either rising to power, or getting wacked.
I think one interesting thing we might see this season is anthony jr. trying to enter the family business.
maybe some old characters will show back up too. I read that Ben kingsly is going to star as himself in an episode.

Actually it's Locke, as in John Locke the 18th century philosopher. Rousseau is another philosopher name, just another reason the show has cultural appeal. I'm not going to give you any spoilers but I think if you keep watching you'll enjoy what happens.

I agree and last week's episode was like WHOA!

I thought it would've been Locke with an E. shrug
One thing I don't like about Lost is that there's no sense of time. That gets on my tits. I can tell this Blonde bird's gonna piss me off too, Shannon.
