How can I make it so that it goes higher than 1024X768 on my iBook, because I have my iBook hooked up to my 26" display and it looks stretched.

Just wondering if there's any plugin that'll allow me to do this.

[quote31de2eb2fb]Display

li Choice of built-in 12.1-inch or 14.1-inch (diagonal) TFT XGA active-matrix display
li Support for millions of colors at 1024 x 768 pixel resolution
li Support for resolution scaling to 800 x 600 pixel and 640 x 480 pixel resolution with millions of colors

And unless you have a HDTV, you're 'wasting' resolution because the TV can't display anything higher anyway.

I see nothing on this page that suggests it allows a higher resolution. Just spanning.

he's not trying to increase the res on his iBook itself...that can't be done. he's trying to increase the res on the outgoing video to a screen. isn't that pretty much what spanning does? i dunno i'd never heard of it before but that web site is pretty cool. thanks

it lets you add a new display and change its res and orientation to the main display. all the features most macs with better video cards have.

Maybe I didn't read into what he was saying.

No spanning is the ability to 'add' an extra monitor. Apple 'crippled' the iBook so that it could only mirror. You could mirror at a higher resolution or span at a lower. Spanning doesn't tell you what's the resolution is doing.

according to apple.com, the iBook has a 1024x768 res. for both the 12 and 14 in. models. Are you saying that this can be increased on the laptop itself? I though he was asking how to create a higher res output to plug into an external monitor, such as the 26 in. display he was talking about. it sounds like you're saying that you can increas the res on your iBook. i though this has to do with the screen, not the software or whatever? ? ?
