We're in the process of looking for security verifications for online stores that we can register with and display on our website to make shoppers feel completely at ease. We already have our Paypal Verification seal up, but I wanted to look in to additional measures. Verisign was the first I looked into but registering with them and getting the secure certificate is hundreds a year shock That is an expense we cannot afford right now. Anyone have a suggestion? What would make you feel secure when looking into shopping at an online store (if you do so)?

How are you accepting payments? If you're only accepting payment via paypal, there's no reason to have SSL installed. If you're accepting payments via credit card, there's no way I'd use your site without SSL.

Yes, we are accepting all payments via the Paypal secure cart system, because you can also pay direct via CC with it.

The verisign ssl is worthless if you're not doing your own credit card processing. It sounds to me like all the CC information is being handled by Paypal. They've essentially taken the place of verisign. Infact. Go look at paypal's site, way down at the bottom. You're paying for that logo with all the paypal transaction fees.

Maybe I misunderstood. When they click checkout it transfers them to a PayPal cart with their SSL? Or does it take all the info. on your page?

Customers are transferred to the Paypal Cart.

I have a list somewhere of a few things in an ebook. Later I'll try to scrounge some sites up if I can.
