Will The Apple Store Take an iPod from a Free Site?

I heard that I can bring in, like, a 30gb iPod and exchange it (with 100 dollars) for a 60gb. Can I do this, or did I need to have bought the iPod at the Apple Store?

Yes u can, I did it this weekend. I traded my nano and payed about 150 +taxes and got a 60gb. Tell them u want to upgrade.

are you kidding? those minis sell like crazy on ebay or somewhere like that. you can almost sell the mini and completely cover the cost of a brand new 30gb.

Didn't work for me in NYC. They scanned the box and told me I had to return it through Mac Mall. It was a manager though, so maybe I just hit some bad luck.

Yes, they are now scanning the bar codes. They could tell right away that mine came from Amazon. The guy said they started doing this due to the amount of fraud.
