ok i think i'll go with the sony, they're about 1/2 as expensive, and supposedly better than the bose.

I doubt I would ever pay that much for headphones unless I was a millionaire and smoking 100 dollar bills for the hell of it....That would be a pretty cool freebie though....

I have $300 headphones but they are in the ear ones. I've used the Bose ones and they are pretty fucking tight. Not sure if they are worth that much but you can probably find them somewhere else a little cheaper...

Why the fuck would anyone in their right mind pay $300 for headphones?

Because they are really, really good. They make Apple earbuds sound like someone is pooping in your ear. I think they are more like $250 when they were bought. I got them through a freebie site back when everyone had a phpBB site. They are Shure E3c headphones....

Still, if you're using earbuds, it's for like an on the go item, like the ipod. Why would you need $250 worth of sound? That's more then you spent on the ipod. When I use my shuffle (which I rarely do), I use these jumbo cumfy headphones I bought off ebay for $10.
If I want quality sounds I'll listen at home, on my stereo system.
I can see an expensive car system, but $250 for earbuds is crazy.

I did not like the Bose Triports I got and prefer my Sennheiser HD 25 'phones far more. They have very good overall sound. They cost $200, I believe.

I like quality where ever I go. I use my Apple earbuds when I'm working out but when I'm on a long flight or long road trip or jury duty, I like to have high quality audio. And they are more comfortable than the Sony ones. The big over the ear ones are great too. I have some Sony wireless ones at home but I don't want those big bulky headphones when I'm on the move. The Shure headphones are amazing...

consider isolating earbuds instead. you'll get much better sound for far fewer bucks and you still get the isolation.
bose = buy other stereo equipment

wouldn't the earbuds hurt your ears? I've seen the noise cancelling ones and they seem like they'd hurt.
Also, don't you get better sound from the over-the-ear headphones?
