Well, I know some of us prefer to use flash drives to transport data rather then burn it to data discs, but this is the ultimate in flash memory. This is esentially a portable 2" computer. I think we need a flashdrives.freepay.com.....I think this should go for about 100 refs

Flash drives. They are getting bigger and cheaper and they are more reliable than HDD...

Yeah, it'll be sweet when we have a 300GB flash drive for only $500 D

Except for that pesky physics about how flash drives work and the limited read/write cycles and all.

I kinda meant it more for things like MP3 players and portables since no moving parts mean less chance of HD failure. HD fail too much...

i think i might side with some of those comments... an early april fools joke, perhaps.

How fast are the read/writes on flash?

that's crazy....i'd love to find out that someone who designed those stole it by carrying it out in his pocket. a $5k piece of electronics in his pocket...haha!

that's what i'd do at least....

and ya the flash memory sounds like a good idea for laptops, but it's a better idea for mp3players. take the 32gb model they were talking about....30gb worth of music....the extra storage to prevent the system from intruding on music space....and you've got a 30 gb player the size of a shuffle or nano or something. pretty sweet lol

computer screens/monitors, of varous sizes from very portable to very permanent, with a small flash drive of 200GB+ that plugs directly in to them. touchscreen, maybe, for keyboard/mouse functions, and optional external keyboards and mice.
the screens will be very common, so much so that you can have your little drive with you in public, find a screen, and get on liyour computerli for a while. then you go home, and use your personal screen. friends come over? all they have to do is plug in, as well.

big security issues with losing the drives, though.

i totally pulled that out of nowhere if its a concept thats already been introduced, i am sorry.

The drives can have biometrics easily integrated...

That's a sick idea, kind of what I was thinking. I told a few buddies about it and they all said "why would you need a 64gb flash drive"......It's a good question, but not when you really think about it. Copy your entire hard drive on it, and then go to a friends house, plug it into their computer, and boot up YOUR operating system...... Hopefully the price will go down on these pretty dern soon, I don't think many people could blow 5k on a flash drive, but on Buy.com they're sold out shrug

Yeah for 5,000 dollars you can have a new computer.

Or about 50 100 gb hard drives.
