Ok, I'm unbanned because I need help on part of a project that I'm doing for school. Its a announcement/post that I'm creating but I'm having trouble putting it together. The event that is going on is called 'Battle of the Bands' and I'm looking to create a really good flyer because my TA is really into graphical presentations (even though this is an first year English class). Now I may or may not even need photoshop, but I want this to look really good. The image I'm working with right now is

http/" alt=""/img227.imageshack.us/img="227/692/aes620fadedburst5ds.jpg[" alt=""/img12ae8c0630] and I started with crossing them for a good starting image and then going from there. But the problem is I want to blend the guitars in so that the white area around the guitar doesn't interfere or whatever.
Any help would be more than greatly appreciated.

if you have photoshop, I'd take that image and use the "magic wand" tool (it's the second one down on the right hand side of the little tools bar). If you click it on the white, it will select all of it and you can delete the white. Before you start, you might want to copy and paste the whole image into a new photoshop document with a transparent background. Anyhow, this will give you a picture like this

http//www.bookwyrm.ca/guitar.gif[" alt=""/img55a03bc41f]
Which you can then copy, paste, and use transform tools on to set at the angle you want so that you can have two guitars crossing each other, like this
[img="55a03bc41f]http//www.bookwyrm.ca/guitars.gif[" alt=""/img55a03bc41f]
Is that what you were after? I'm not sure if I interpreted your question correctly.

Ok I got the images crossed but I cant get the white out from the back even when I put it on a transparent background. I want to transfer the image to powerpoint or publisher to create the flyer but when I save the photoshop as a jpeg it adds the white to it.

You need to save as a gif to preserve transparency.

FYI, PNG format is much better than GIF. Patent issues notwithstanding (and endusers typically don't care about that anyway), GIF is an indexed format with a fixed palette of 256 colors max. PNG supports transparency (including alpha transparency) and is a true RGB format. What all that means in a nutshell is that PNG is an open standard that can contain much better looking images with no palette shift, as is common with GIF's. All modern browsers also support PNG (aside from the annoying IE bug with PNG transparency).
Just a suggestion.

You can change the order of the layers by draging them up or down. So you'd move the layer you want as the background to the bottom.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it.
Here's the final product that I came up with.

I would change the bottom text to a different font thats more readable. Even something as simple as Arial. The top font is ok. Overall though it looks good.

It might come out a bit ink-intesnive - just a heads up.

I'm not going to be printing it so I'm all good wink
Yeah the bottom isn't so good, I didn't realize it until I saw it this big.

if it is easy for you, then you might want to change the bottom font because its not super easy to read and thats important... although you say you wont print it so nvm... if they see the top, the bottom will catch their attention.

Also, you might want to see if you can smooth the edges around the guitars a bit, it looks really bumpy near the bottom. Looks good overall though. D
