METAREWARDS IS CLOSING!!

METAREWARDS an online leader in incentivized traffic affiliate marketing is closing down! My inside guy says that his company is going to just solely market their own incentivized freebie sites and stop working with affiliates. That totally sucks. A lot of freebie sites will be affected by this...

I am pretty sure that you're wrong. You may have it reversed - they recently announced the closure of their offers-for-cash site (http//www.netflip.com). Based on my conversations with them, I don't think they're going under any time soon. Naturally, though, I could be wrong.

11-04-2006 11:02:30
I personally know people that work there and I talked to them again and they said they are closing their incentive marketing business. Since you're an affiliate, you should get an e-mail pretty soon within the next couple of days, if not today. They are officially shutting every aspect of the incentivize affiliate program they have by april 21st. Just a heads up.

Trainn, Rewardbull, giftfiesta, all those guys that rep it here at the forum will be feeling the effects soon and so will we as the end users. They are shutting everything down by the 21st and they should be letting each of their affiliates know whats up soon so the news should be public any time.

I doubt that the're "closing" in the essence of the word. I think they're just cutting out subaffiliates and whatnot. I assume you'll still get your check.
Interesting news.

11-04-2006 13:23:59
I think it's more likely that MR is closing the majority of their own sites (as they've already done). They make way too much money off the rake of sites promoting MRs offers to just give that business away.
wolverine13
11-04-2006 14:14:23
This is what I have confirmed
+ They aren't just "cutting" people. They're closing their entire incentive based marketing sector. They'll take non-incentivized traffic but the incentivized traffic sector is completely being shut down.
+ They'll still pay. Anything and everything up till the 21st, you'll still get your check like normal.
I have the e-mail they will be sending out to the affiliates if you want it. PM me if you own a site or you are a MAJOR affiliate and I can get you some more specific information about it.
PS - Has anyone gotten their e-mails yet? Geesch.

OKAY SINCE I HAD LIKE 5 MILLION PMs, I WILL POST IT HERE
(YOU AFFILIATES WILL ALL GET THIS E-MAIL SOONER OR LATER. STOP MESSAGING YOUR ACCOUNT MANAGER AND BOTHERING THEM CUZ THEY ARE NOW PISSED AT ME. JUST BE PATIENT AND YOU WILL GET YOUR E-MAIL. If you guys freak out and flood meta's inboxes with questions, I'm not going to be able to share news about them with you guys. I'll keep you guys posted with new developments. If you have specific questions, just PM me, I probably know the answer.)
MetaReward today announced that the company has decided to exit the incentive marketing business. The incentive marketing business climate has changed over the past year and after carefully reviewing our options, we have decided to focus on other parts of our business that are growing at a more rapid pace. As a result, we will begin ceasing operations of all incentive marketing immediately with the complete ramp down being complete by April 21, 2006.
MetaReward will continue to focus on its non-incentive credit card marketing business. Partners that promote credit cards on a non-incentive basis will not be affected by the changes at MetaReward. In fact, we will be introducing several new credit card products and technologies in the very near future that are targeted to credit card marketers.
We sincerely appreciate the patronage of our incentive and non-credit card publishing partners over the years and apologize if this change in our business causes any inconvenience. Below you will find a basic FAQ that is meant to answer any questions that you may have. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
Q Why is MetaReward exiting the incentive marketing business?
A Incentive marketing originally attracted high volumes of consumer traffic providing the opportunity to market offers on behalf of our clients. In the past year, the effectiveness of incentive marketing has eroded, volume has dropped and the remaining consumer traffic is not matching client criteria for profitable customers.
Q What offers will MetaReward continue to promote?
A MetaReward will focus on credit card offers. All non-credit card and incentive offers will be removed from the network on Friday April 21, 2006 at noon pacific time.
Q When should I remove MetaReward links?
A All non-credit card and incentivized offer links should be removed by Friday April 21, 2006 at noon pacific time. Non-incentive credit card offers do not need to be removed.
Q Will I be paid outstanding commissions?
A Yes. All outstanding commissions earned for transactions through Friday April 21, 2006 at noon Pacific Time will be paid in full on the traditional payment schedule. Activity for April will be paid on or before May 30, 2006.

Well I agree to being banned if I am lying. As for being the bearer of bad news, NO! Don't kill the messenger! Besides, isn't it better for you guys to find out now than later? Not only do I give a heads up to the owners of the freebie sites but also I give a heads up to the members. I think the latter is more important. I'm just trying to keep everyone updated. But yes, if I am lying and by the 21st, Metarewards doesn't close or the freebie site owners don't find out, then I should be banned. I'm not making any of this up. When one of the freebie site owners gets the e-mail I posted, please confirm it for everyone else.

A lot of people who are in the freebie scene are only it for the gifts and don't really care how it all works or who owns who, who's their sites affiliates and such like.
If the thread was renamed to "Potential end to the Freebie Scene" then it would get more attention.

Oh shit. This really sucks. MR is the leader in the incentive marketing world. Looks like they reached their peak during 2005 and the only way to go now is to the bottom. This doesnt mean the end of incentive marketing. There are a quite a few more networks than MR. They were great while they lasted.

nobody really knows the reason behind this. understand that meta is part of experian interactive, which is a big subsidy of an even bigger conglomerate.
what this says to me is that the incentive marketing scene is clamping down. the margins aren't as high these days, which means everyone has to play smarter. meta's one of my favorite networks, but they have fairly easy standards on new site applications which means the volume of fraudulent leads is too high.

i would say that depends on the site in question (i.e. whether they're willing to pay it out of pocket or not).

is there a way to know which offers will be affected by metarewards so i can avoid those until some solution comes up? (or would this be too many to be able to avoid?)
or, can i call up the site (nuitech) and ask them if [u16d265fead]all[/u16d265fead] of my completed offers will be respected after 30 days? I don't want to burden them with unnecessary silliness.. but i don't want to start on a site that I can't complete. [i16d265fead] (I find they don't answer questions sent via their contact page. depends on their bussiness ideas
one idea is lowball and hope name recognition brings people to your site and not the other sites paying higher. or pay higher than rest of sites and get customers that way. you will get both name recognition and the researcher.
should be interesting to see wat path they take, based on the email they sent saying they will do anything to get you to join them. i will go with the higher end like wolfeman said

There are plenty of other networks. I've already taken a hard look at the campaigns that we had with them and it looks like we at FusionCash will lose less than 1% of our volume.
The only people this would really negatively impact would be people who used strictly Meta for all their offers - and putting all ones eggs in one basket like that is just asking for it.
If anyone needs a new publisher network, we offer closed loop reporting and very competitive payouts on a Net15 schedule on FusionCash's publisher network http//publishers.fusioncash.net

The good news is that they said that they will be happy to match and raise their own CPA if you see any CPA that is higher then theirs. The little bad news is AOL cant be reun with them for incentive sites. That is fine becuase their are a bunch of others with aol.
