Can't play .aviurl==http://=http:///url files on my mac. Any tips?

The easiest way would probably be to download the mac version of VLC player at http//www.videolan.org/ (freeware). If that doesn't work go here for other ways http//www.thexlab.com/faqs/avidivx.html.

AVI and MOV are as generic as 'car' and 'truck'. They're just wrappers. There are dozens of codecs that are wrapped around inside of these files.
Although the generic answer I'm gussing that your avi's are DIVX or XVID. There are ffmpeg and Divx plugins that will allow you to view these files in Quicktime.
VLC (above) and
MPlayer[=http//www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27163]MPlayer also work. I personally like the command line version of mplayer in terminal.app
mplayer -ontop movie.avi will force it to stay above other windows. Then I drag it onto my other screen, hit f and it's full screen.
