I have an old xbox..what to do with it...

I have an old halo 2 limited green edition xbox. What should I do with it? Is there any cool mods or something? I have a 360 so I don't know what I should do with this one.

i thought about ebay. I didn't know if I could turn it into something cool. A computer or something? I don't know how to use linux though.

http//www.xbox-scene.com theres enuff information on that site for anyone to doa mod chip job. Look around on the forums (x-s forums). If you want to turn it into a computer your going to need a mod chip,and a bigger hdd. I am currently making a server out of a "broken" xbox i got on ebay for $28 shipped.

I want to turn it into a computer with AIM and FIREFOX and stuff installed to it. I also want to upgrade the HDD and put xvid movies on there. I think that would be sweet. I have to do this by putting linux onto it..i don't really know what i'm doing though.

like I said before search xbox-scene.com if you can't find exactly what your looking for post on the forums you should be able to do this without any problems if you know anything about computers.

agreed. i got all my info from X-S and I currently have a modded 1.3 xbox with ATA-166 cables for faster data transfer to the HDD/DVD with a clear blue case with a 200 GB HDD (going to rig some lights, get a CPU/RAM upgrade, and a silent fan).. works great for a variety of things.. It's a multifunction PC/Media Center/Video Game Box.[/spoiler]

XBMC is the the best app in the world. I use it to show my downloaded movies at friends houses. (Plus it doesn't tie up my laptop in doing so)

My girlfriend wants me to make her one, so if you're going to sell it. I'd buy it.

My xbox hasnt had any play for like almost a year now. Its just in storage nicely wrapped up in the closet. I havent figured out a way to sell it.

How much do you think I could sell it for? It has been opened before because I used to have a modchip in it, but I broke the solderless adapter for it so I restored it to normal. It a normal HDD and everything normal about the xbox besides the warranty sticker is broken. IT IS IN 100% WORKING CONDITION, WORKS ON LIVE, JUST LIKE YOU BOUGHT IT SEALED.

100% agree...i turned my xbox into a media center...i can stream my divx/xvid/wma files, mp3, pics, shoutcast...well worth the 30 bucks for a modchip...something like 8 wires to solder and only 1 of them is a little hard to do.

as far as running aim and firefox...i havnt tried that...

Haven't tried an IM client on there.. But I have used Firefox, Thunderbird and Xchat (an IRC client). Works great if you have an HDTV, isn't pleasing to the eye if you use a CRT and you'll end up having to resize the system font. But thats not an XBOX issue, but rather a TV issue.

pretty much any modchip that you can get today will work with xbmc...its just software that you put on you xbox....actually i dont think that you even need a modchip...there are softmods that will let you run unsigned code on your xbox...but i dont know for sure....i have a Xecter 2.0 in my box..i think they are up to 2.6 and Xcuter 3...but there are a bunch out there

I have the same xbox, they go higher on ebay than regular ones due to the special edition.

or if you're too lazy to get a chip and install it.. I can tell you how to do a software mod that costs $0

$30 mod chip? damn. i did a soft mod. I found MechAssault used at Block Buster... ON SALE... $5 plus $5 for a USB -> XBOX cable and I used the "Use your jump drive" trick to get the soft mod files onto the HD.
