I am selling my 60GB iPod on ebay, and I got this question
[quote3ae61a3a5c]Q HI, I am Geoffrey Williams Regarding the advert you placed on eBay, which I happened to be very much interested in and I would like to purchase the item for $95000 USD plus $120.00 USD for cost of shipping.I want you to get back to me if this offer is okay with you,i want shipment through (USPS GLOBAL EXPRESS MAIL).Moreover, the package will be shipped to my SON in Nigeria who is attending a UNESCO exchange course there. The item is meant to be a BIRTHDAY GIFT for HIM.I would have sent it myself but i am out of town for An AID'S/ HIV CAMPAIGN RESEARCH.I will pay you through (INTERNATIONAL MONEY GRAM ).Reply me with your email address and also i need your NAME, CONTACT Address,Telephone # and E-mail address to make payment for the item as soon as possible [/quote3ae61a3a5c]
My response
[quote3ae61a3a5c]I'm sorry, but I think I would be taking advantage of you for that price. You should have no problem arranging the this at apple.com for far less money.[/quote3ae61a3a5c]

lmfao.
That sucks. I put my car for sale on something like craigslist(was actually CT.Backpage.com) and someone sent me a cashiers check for $5000. I was only asking $1200,lol....so I took it to the bank and had them verify that it was fake....on the off chance it wasn't I woulda just kept his $5k and gave him the car, lol.
People are always trying to rip others off by sending fake checks and shit....I havent actually fallen for one yet.

You pretty much can't sell any new electronics on ebay without getting at least one of those emails. I just reply to the first one saying I'm not dumb enough to fall for their lame scams and post it publicly in my auction hoping other scammers will see it and not waste my time.

I got that message today, seems kind of fake, I told him I have 2 of the ibooks and would be willing to sell the other one at that, so sent the payment to my address. If it is a real money order and clears, and he doesn't want me to ship it to Nigeria, i'll send it, if not, it'll be a fun experience anyways! haha

I always tried to turn the table on them. Right off the bat, you should recognize which comments are fake and which ones are legit. C'mon man, no one fucking orders shit from Nigeria. Especially on ebay. Tell them to fedex you a copy of their passport or some sort of identification and then after that you will express mail their item. Do this so that they spend their own money out of their pocket to send the fedex. Then just send them a box of rocks. They have to pay for the taxes and import dues so they lose even more money. I used to mess with them alllll the time.

when my dad was looking to buy a range rover. He was pming all the sellers on ebay his best offer. And he got one of these in return
Hello there,
Thank you for your interest in my vehicle. I want you to know that I have closed my auction earlier because someone has offered me the buy it now price, but didn't have all the money available and I cannot accept financing as time is a real issue for me. The price I want to obtain for it is $17,000 US (this price includes shipment and insurance charges).
My wife was recently promoted so we had to move in Greece. We brought the truck with us, wanting to register it here, but I couldn't because it is a US vehicle and to get it registered here it will need serious engine modifications in order to comply with the EU emission standards, it is an US model (which complies with the US emission standards DOT and EPA) and Europe regulations are different from these ones. Also we didn't pay the duties for bringing it here and if we resell it back to US there will be no more duties to be paid. So that is why I prefer to sell it quick now and get rid of it while I still can, because time is running and I can't keep it like that, there is a deadline term when I must pay the import tax, so I can't afford to lose time and I prefer to make some money while I still can.
The truck is like new, completely working, perfect running condition, with no hidden damages or accidents, it has always been garage kept, low miles, 2005 model, with 4 years EXTENDED, INTERNATIONAL and TRANSFERABLE warranty, which will be honored at any dealer from there. It is US model with US specs and passed the US test emissions. It will be as if purchased locally. The truck is insured in case of damage and you will receive it in 8-9 working days. It will be shipped via air freight to the nearest international airport from your area and from there with ground freight to your door. It will come with all the necessary papers (clear title, bill of sale, warranty documents, user's manual, insurance etc). The title is clear and you will register it in your state without problems. I will send the truck having written on it 'gift' so you won't have to pay any additional taxes.
The shipping costs and the insurance taxes of the package will be down to me and you only pay for the money transfer commission when you wire the funds, which is about 4% from the total amount sent. My wife works for the carrier and her employer will help us out with the shipment (as part of her job benefits).
The truck is being shipped from Greece and you won't have to pay for customs or any additional taxes when it will arrive. There may be some customs for you to pay, but if you wish we can avoid them you'll declare you send money to a friend and I will declare the shipping as a gift/donation.
I am requesting a $7,500 US refundable deposit prior shipping and the balance to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are not 100% content with the truck you will ship it back on my expense to get your deposit back. I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the art vehicle and you will have no reason not to be content with it.
This is a large purchase and I would like to use a third party for this transaction as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use eBay Secure Trade, I have completed a lot of successful deals using them. I have a purchase protection account of $20,000 with them. If this is your first time using eBay Secure Trade here are their terms if you will not receive the truck exactly as advertised or you won't receive it in 30 days since you made the deposit, eBay Secure Trade will refund you from my eBay Secure Trade account.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address so I can register the transaction with Secure Trade ASAP.
Regards,
Willson
That was obviously a fat scam, and the same car w/ the same vin number showed up on ebay a while later with some sller from florida, and i PMed the florida seller and asked him, and he was like that email u got was mos def a scam.

because it is a fake check... I could make a check today for $3K that looks real, I could cash it at my bank, they would cash it NP, and then the check is going no where, and the bank takes their money back...
