CD\DVD Burning Software

So I've used Nero for years but ever since they went to v7 its been pure shite. I have more coasters than ever and it just doesn't work well.

What else is out there? I need it to make music CDs, DVDs, and burn ISOs...

Damn, I use Nero too, but 6 Ultra.

Yeah maybe I'll go back to 6. DON'T UPGRADE TO 7. It sucks balls...

I haven't had any problems with 7 either, I used it quite a bit.

When I burn a music CD using Nero it skips like crazy, when I use iTunes it works perfect...

i agree Nero 7 is not a good program, you should Try the newest Roxio( think its 8 ) or Alcohol %120..They are both good programs

I do use Alcohol 120% for mounting CDs\DVDs. I'll check out Roxio...

I had all sorts of problems with Roxio years ago. It was why I switched to Nero. Maybe the tables have turned...

when i burn cd's with nero 6 no sound comes..when i play it..i need help there...all other audio/data cd burned by nero work fine for me

EDIT i think i need some sort of codac..can any1 link me to it..sorry i can make my own tread if this bugs you.

Roxio seriously pales in comparison to Nero. I've used just about all the CD/DVD mastering tools, and Nero pretty much owns them all.

And I agree, for duplication and virtual drives, Alcohol 120% is the best. I've been a registered user for years.

Nero and Alcohol are an unbeatable team IMO.

Nero, on occasion and without warning, will randomly decide when it can and can't read or write some of my discs. They're all the same brand and a disc may be read and written to one minute, and the next minute it's asking me to insert a blank DVD even though I just did. shrug

I'm gonna start using Alcohol 120%.

Alcohol won't work for mastering though, it's a duplication/imaging tool only that includes virtual drive support. Of course if your mastering needs are light you can just use XP's built-in burning support and use Alcohol for the other stuff.

Not sure why you guys are having such trouble with Nero. Like I said I've owned every version since v4, on a variety of hardware and with both internal and external (USB) burners. The only real problems I've had were hardware (like a bad burner or firmware) or were media related. Use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or MCC (pretty much all I buy) in a decent burner, and I don't think Nero should give any problems.

I use DVDShirk to backup DVDs, Alcohol 120% for copying CD\DVD, but its authoring where I'm having issues. Nero Vision has a massive audio sync problem when making DVDs that they just can't fix too. I'm lost...
