When looking at the specs for Macbooks or Apple desktops, they don't look too impressive compared to regular Windows based computers. I really don't see why they cost so much and the only positive I see is the program compatability. This isn't me starting an argument, this is a serious question. Why are these computers so illustrious?
Thanks.

Don't believe the hype, they aren't that much better. iPods suck too...

It's not the hardware that make Macs great. It's the software. Mac OS X.

yea, they have better circuitry too, but OS X is my favorite OS then Mandrivia, Then Win XP
i can understand macs having a fanbase. I grew up on both the pc and mac.. When I was in elementary school, we had Apple ][, and the very first macintosh. The PC at my house was a 33MHz Packard Bell with 200 MB of HDD.
I prefer the PC since my first computer had DOS on it, which after 2 years of owning; upgraded to Windows 3.1 after getting a copy of a BBS.
However, those commercials are exaggerating to boast their own sales.. and that's to be expected.

The day people get Mac OSX running on PCs is the day I switch away from Macs.
And the day people get other DAPs working on iTunes is the day I switch away from iPods.
But until those days, I'll be stuck with overpriced, faulty hardware that has excellent software.

Agreed.
iTunes is a piece of shit, but I hear good things about Foobar over Winamp. shrug

Ditto. If Apple made iTunes better iPod would be invincible. It seems like Apple oversimplified things when creating iTunes. When in fact they made it more difficult. My cousin always calls me for help because they have 2 iPods and have to work around using the same computer, etc.
@H3x Same way I grew up shock We had a Packard Bell at home, but at school we always had iMacs.

whats so great about macs? absolutely nothing. They will never be anything more than overpriced toys in my book. I wonder where Apple would be were it not for the ipod....

Just Google it for more info http//macvspc.info/pages/01f-pc_myths_debunked.html . Macs are much more reliable than PC's, which is what they point out in the one ad where the PC guy 'crashes.' They're faster (even though the hardware specs on 'em don't look as good) because the OS is so much better than Windows.
I have an HP obviously with Windows on it and you would not believe how many times I've had to reformat the hard drive because of fatal viruses, windows glitches, etc, and I keep my computers very well updated. Because of this my next computer will probably be a Mac.
