Anyone here have pets? Talk about them!
I have a cat, he's about 9 months old and I got him from a shelter. His name is Scotty and he's a grey and black tabby.

My dog is getting old.. Im going to hate to see her go. Shes about 13 and growing tumors on her tummy... it would cost too much to get them removed. Why prolongue death?

Well lets see, because we aren't allowed to have pets in the dorms, my girlfriend has both of my freshwater fish tanks. 1 is actually hers (I bought it for her) but she had 3 rummy-nose tetra and each of them died within the first week so the 3 blood-fin tetra and the countless common snails in it are mine. She just bought a pleco for it. The other fish tank has 2 black widow tetra, 1 barb (the pet store had it labeled a tiger barb but its not), 1 spotted (angelicus) pimelodus and I had a pleco in there but he died when the heater malfunctioned and the water got much too hot for him. Also had a longfin zebra danio, but I had him for almost 3 years and he was just randomly gone one day (
I had 2 water dragons a few years ago but one was wild caught (i didn't know this) and the other was captive bread, so disease killed them both. I also had an anole I found on a tree that was shipped from FL to an office a friend of the family worked in, I took him in and he lived for a while but he lost a battle with a spider I tried to feed him. Most recently I had a flying gecko, but my g/f went to NYC for a weekend while she was taking care of him and when she came back he was dead ( I don't know if it is just bad luck or if she doesn't care for things properly, but I taught her how to care for everything and she is a very loving person who treats her cat very well so I think it is the previous.
BTW I had a pure-bred basset hound up until last year when he died, he was 10 years old. I've also had random wild pets I caught here and there, but I usually just keep them for a while and release them. This included rabbits, birds, salamanders, chipmunks and even fish I've caught in the lake.

The boyfriend said, "When we're married, I want to get a basset hound. I want a dog as lazy as I am." lol No, we're not engaged at this point either, so he's going to be waiting a while!

Basset Hounds are awesome. They will always play when you want them to play (when they are young anyway), but never bother you to play because they are just as happy laying around. I loved Buster so much ( him and his big floppy ears. We got him for christmas in 93. <3

Yea, most pet stores have a 1 week guarantee...but my g/f lost the reciept for the rummy-nose tetra so the couldn't take them back. I told her they didn't look very healthy in the store (

Awwww, that's so sad....here's my sad tale....
I actually had a kitten before Scotty and the second day I had him he just wasn't playful anymore. He started sneezing and he seemed a bit congested.
After about 10 days and $235 in vet bills, he died; sometime from the time I left for work (745am) from the time I got home for lunch (1215pm). Broke my heart that the little guy just couldn't hold on anymore.
I paid an aditional $65 for his adoption fee from the Humane society local to here and found out the day after he died that they had an outbreak of pnuemonia in the shelter. They never told me that he was exposed. I got the adoption fee back.

haha yea... cats are boring and im allergic to them..
its funny whenever a cat comes in my backyard or front i shoot them with my airsoft gun and they fly like hell...
but first i coax them into coming closer to me.. one time i got a cat so close that it rubbed its nose on my hand then i pulled the gun from behind my back and i was like "GO!" and it kinda backed up about 3 inches and was like "What?" so then i shot it in its stomach and it ran faster than you've ever seen..
i was laughing so hard it was funny.

You should see kittens when they're all wound up. Oh my goodness are they funny. Kitten + plastic bag = hours of entertainment for any human!
They even chase their tails.

That's a nice looking cat. My g/f's cat is pure grey, and she's gorgeous. Her name is Serenity...and she is afraid of her own shadow. There are two dogs in the house, a pit and a pit/huskie/something mix, and she punks them if they come near her though.

The cat that died was all grey. I loved the kitten. All I wanted was a gray kitten but that didn't work out. Oh well. His name was Rain. My last name is Cloud...figure that one out. D
