My friend sold a textbook on half.com and did tracking and confirmation and HAS gotten confirmation that the buyer has received the book.

This book was purchased from an efollet (physical) book store (not electronic) and in very good condition.

He sold it for about half the price he paid. Shipped it and all fine.

THe buyer is saying this

[bd805d02c95]Comment/ Question This book is not in like new condition, the cover is
somewhat detached and started to break. Also,
there is black tape covering the fact that this book is for professional review
and not for resale! This was clearly not stated in the description. I would
think that the fact that there is black tape all over the book should be
stated. I could have bought a brand new book for a small amount more. Therefore,
I would like a significant discount or I will report this to ebay and give
you negative feedback. You can issue partial refunds through your account. Since it will be hard for me to re-sell this book honestly, I would expect at least a 50% discount. [/bd805d02c95]

What is he do to?

uh, well if they are being honest about all that and your friend knows it, give them what they want.

I had a similar complaint on ebay where a buyer thought i misrepresented the product and demanded a refund on a portion of the product, and threatened negative feedback. I told him that I was sorry but I did not misrepresent the product and that any negative feedback would be met back with negative feedback from myself. In end we both ended up with a neutral and I kept my money.

Ask him to return the book for a full refund. Simple.

i'd be pissed too if i got a not-for-resale book and it wasn't described as such

State that your friend wasn't responsible for the condition it was in AFTERli the shipping handling and that the buyer should have bought insurance for shipping.

so he's gonna have to take negative feedback?

It sounds like the guy wants a "discount"

hehehhehe

The guy is trying to extort a discount so do like I said and offer a full refund after the tem is shipped back. If he rejects this and still wants a discount, report him. Feedback extortion is not permitted on ebay.

If there is a case he is given negative feedback, then your friend should tell half.com or however is in charge of disputes that the buyer should have atleast bought insurance to cover the item. Maybe the feedback will be overturned if so.

Theres a reason why sellers give the optional choice for insuring the items.

one of my buyers was pissed about a spray-painted cd-rom drive I sold and said it was a crappy job. He gave me a negative comment, even though he only paid $.01 for the drive and about $8 for s/h (which was about $6 for me).... I contacted him and told him i'd send him $3 to buy a can of spray paint, which he accepted and withdrew his feedback.
